Tons of millions of young adults every day throughout America are not able to get into college. Young adults nowadays have given up on their chances to go to college, because they are too poor to afford not only to be able to attend college but because of the supplies people need. An average college textbook cost $200 which for all your classes would equal up to $1,200 per year (Chenes, Elizabeth Des). Also, colleges offer scholarships to women because of their gender but not to men. Young adults work hard every day to get on the honor roll and deserve a reward. The United States government states that they give people scholarships and grants are called a “gift aid” because it is free money (Cottom). The gift aid even covers the money for supplies and books (Cottom). A student scholarship can range from money for books to the full cost of tuition or room and board (Cottom). How else could scholarships help hard working teens? Universities would go scouting and look for kids in the honor roll. A hundred to a thousand dollars can go far go for college (The New York Times). Schools give high school students scholarships ranging between one thousand and two thousand dollars (The New York Times). A normal average high school has a financial support class that can help. Other programs provide financial that helps students who have worked hard through high school and who study abroad (The New York Times). Young adults need inspiration and help. Teenagers would work harder if they knew if could pay off. These are reasons college should be free to attend for hard-working teens (The New York Times).
