The 125 year old Coca Cola Company currently ranks 70th on the List of Fortune 500 Companies for 2011. Coca Cola began in 1886 when pharmacist John Pemberton in Atlanta, GA, sold a caramel colored mix that was combined with carbonated water and sold for $.05 cents a glass at Jacobs Pharmacy. The pharmacy sold approximately 9 glasses the first day totaling $.45 cents a day average. After John Pemberton passed away in 1888 the company rights were acquired by a business name named Griggs Candler for $2,300 (The Coca Cola Company, 2011). Candler led the way for the innovative product to become a business. He began promoting the product on everyday products so that the logo was everywhere and the aggressive tactic worked. The demand grew so quickly that there three production facilities were up and operating within 7 years. By 1920 there were over 1,000 bottlers of the product and in the 40’s the president helped to lay the international groundwork for the company to begin doing business overseas and ensuring that a Coke was available to many for a small price.…
This year marks the 125th anniversary of my beverage of choice - Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola was created in Atlanta, Georgia, by pharmacist Dr. John Pemberton on May 8th, 1886 and in its first year only 9 glasses of the beverage were sold. Today, the Coca-Cola company sells 1.7 billion beverage servings per day on average, and its product portfolio has expanded to offer more than 3,500 beverage choices to consumers. One hundred and twenty-five years later, Coca-Cola is sold in more than two hundred countries worldwide – but that just scratches the surface of what the company is about. In addition to being the world’s number one beverage producer, Coca-Cola is leading the charge, around the world in sustainability; especially in the areas of waste reduction, renewable forms of energy and water conservation.…

According to the coca-cola company.com, Coca-Cola has over 500 beverage brands-including four of the world's top-five sparkling brands. The history of Coca-Cola goes back to1886 when it was invented by Dr John Pemberton, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. According to legend, Dr Pemberton was trying to develop a revitalizing tonic and produced a thick brown syrup that he carried down the street in a jug to Jacob’s pharmacy. It was sampled with carbonated water, pronounced ‘delicious and refreshing’ and placed on sale for five cents a glass as a soda fountain drink. In trying to develop the new product, Dr Pemberton’s partner and bookkeeper, Frank M. Robinson, suggested that two ‘c’s would look good in advertising and penned the now famous trademark ‘Coca-Cola’ in his unique script. The first newspaper advertisement for Coca-Cola appeared in the Atlanta Journal and invited thirsty citizens to sample the new refreshing soda fountain drink. During the first year sales averaged a modest nine drinks a day!…

Coca-Cola was invented in 1886 when a pharmacist from Atlanta, Georgia invented the syrup. John Pemberton, the pharmacist sold a glass of Coca-Cola for 5 cents and would only sell about 9 a day. Now I believe a 16 oz. drink goes for $1.25 up to $3.00 depending where you are located. Coca-Cola is a worldwide known name brand, Germany, Mexico, and Africa are just some countries that sells the drink products. Unfortunately, Mr. Pemberton died in 1888 never seeing how his creation would ever succeed. Currently the company produces 10 billion gallons of syrup.
