High School Year Research Paper
I can already tell this is going to be a great year! Hopefully everything goes well and we both can have a good year. This year, I’m going to try and balance all my activities better than I have in the past, especially since I have even more stuff happening with my schedule. It’s going to a busy and somewhat challenging year for me, but netherless I still feel like this will be a good year.
This year in English 10 I hope to improve many skills and also share my personality with you throughout the school year. I hope to improve my writing and listening skills. I hope to improve these skills because I’ve never been the best at writing, especially my spelling, and I tend to zone out during presentations. I think my strong point in English would

When I was 18, my family took a trip to Cancun for Spring Break. I absolutely loved the beaches and palm trees, the white sand, hot sun and blue waves. Ever since then I have had a real passion for tropical islands. My favorite and perhaps the most beautiful Islands I've researched are the Cayman Islands. I've only seen pictures and heard stories but I've already decided that's where I am getting married. I still however, don't know anything about the islands. My love for these islands and my thirst for knowledge on the topic has driven me to do more research and find out the history behind the Cayman Islands. I want to know everything about them, so far the only thing I know is that there are three islands, Grand…

One of the biggest fears of college students is gaining an excessive amount of weight. As most UMass students know, the school’s dining commons are currently ranked second in the United States by the Princeton Review. When I began attending school, the term “Freshman 15” was a common term that was often spoken about amongst my friends. The term “Freshman 15” refers to the amount of weight which is expected to be gained in the first year of college because of the easy access of food. I always looked at the “Freshman 15” as a myth before college. I wanted to learn more about UMass Amherst’s food. I wondered if it could be possible that UMass could be ranked as having one of the best dinning commons in the country and also have healthy…

There is nothing particularly noteworthy about Robert Shawn Keever. He is loud, boisterous, sarcastic, and a man of total depravity. To date he has been in no clubs or sports. He has yet to hold a job, nor do I believe he has the capability to even hold such a responsibility. If it were a matter of GPA, he’d fall short there too as it is 2.3. As a student he has no ambition for higher education and would rather join the military. His relationship with his peers and family can be described as abusive and unruly. In the past he has skipped school and deliberately started fights. Also, he has no faith. This being a nation founded by Jesus would make him an enemy of America and its values. His only saving grace is a profound love for most social studies and a strong sense of loyalty to those who have managed to make friends with him. Thus far he has taken every social studies class Smyrna High School has to offer.…

As seasons change, and the school year progresses, many students lose that “first day of school excitement” (I know that I do!) (parenthesis) that they once felt. So how do we regain that joy that once filled us? The answer is simple, year round school. Having school year round will enable students to expand their knowledge, decrease the time during which kids are idle when they tend to get into the most trouble, and reduce the stress levels of both teachers and students.…

Have you ever wondered what year round school would work and function like at Philomath Middle School. Would a year-round school schedule improve students’ academic performance? There are many debates on whether schools should extend their educational calendar to a full year. While year-round school schedules have their share of benefits, there are also negative outcomes. People often claim the more the better, but what really matters is the quality, not quantity, of education. Year-round schooling should not be organized because students may develop health issues, wouldn’t be prepared for college, and students may miss out on other opportunities during the summer.…

The belief that liberal arts is extra, just for fun, not useful, worthless, a waste of money, unproductive, futureless, (any or all of the above) is quite frankly a ludicrous claim. Many adults have engrained in their minds, sure that it’s fine to take as a course in school, but it’s never going anywhere, it’s never going to land a career, a job, a lifestyle. The stereotype for ‘worthless’ majors is always liberal arts degrees (whether is philosophy, art history, or Russian literature, they have all been thrown under the bus). In actuality, liberal arts degrees and careers are crucial in today’s day and age, and can often lead to well-paying jobs. When a student decides to go to art school, they are often faced with criticism and other people…

    * Destiny, Life and Legacy these three words have so much power behind them than one could imagine. These three words have been made up the web of my life. Destiny is something that is to happen or has happened to particular person or thing, it’s the predetermined, usually inevitable or irresistible course of events. It’s the power or agency that determines the course of events. We all have a destiny it’s our purpose in life. Not everyone discovers their destiny but those that do are the few lucky ones. While students prepare for their grade 12 year they all must go through the process of choosing the correct courses required to get into the program of their desire. It is known that ENG4U is a necessity when it comes to course selection for those applying to university. For some individuals such as myself, this may be seen as an irritating task that we do not excel in and/or ‘need’ for the post secondary education plan we have in mind for ourselves. Even so, I do agree that grade 12 university English be a requirement for all university programs although it may not directly correlate to the program we wish to be a part of.…

I?ve had many strengths and weaknesses in English this year. My strengths have grown tremendously since last year. My writing skills have grown a lot over this past year. Also, my spelling has improved in ways I never thought were possible. My weaknesses are starting to go down but they still stand high. I still need to work more on my memorization techniques. My reading has gotten to be a little sloppy as well this year. I hope to overcome all of my weaknesses and increase my strengths as much as possible in the future.…
