The Trojan, the current mascot, represents the community of the school, inside and out of the building. For community involvement, I became a co-president of a club that works to inform students about current political topics in an engaging, discussion-based setting. Not only does this club use opinions of students but brings in public figures, such as Congressman Trey Hollingsworth, as well. For all years in high school, I have been in the music program that is represented by the harp in the crest. As a percussionist, I have been exposed to many different levels and platforms for performing music. Competitively, the marching band has placed in the top 30 bands nationally, while the indoor percussion has placed in the top eight groups in the nation. In the non-competitive side of music is concert band: public, large-group performances, solos, small ensembles, and so on. Both sides of music are highly enjoyable and have shaped me into a versatile student that uses music as a way to enjoy life. During college, I hope to involve myself in the music program as well as other groups and activities to enhance my experience.
Finally, there is the maple leaf, the school mascot before adapting the Trojan. The maple leaf represents the history of the school as well as the future of all of the other aspects of the crest. This is the reason I am applying to University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am plan to continue following the four quadrants from my high school and apply them to my college life; being involved in the community, pursuing academic excellence, and becoming a successful, student that does not only thrive in class but also outside of class are all obtainable at University of
