Twenty-two-year-old Singer/Songwriter August Alsina was destined to be a great role model. At a young age, he went through more than most people go through in a lifetime. This forced him to become a strong, independent and successful person. When he was young, he was exposed to drugs, streets, and gang violence. His biological father and stepfather were crack addicts. His mother was determined to remove him from that atmosphere. They relocated to Houston, Texas. After being there, he was exposed to more opportunity and a better chance for success. Not long after, August was informed that his father had passed away from drugs. August used music to comfort his soul and separate him from everything else in the world that had a negative impact on him.
He had big dreams and so much hidden talent. Artist such as Lauren Hill, Musiq Soulchild, & Lyfe Jennings inspired him to take his singing to the next level. August soon began posting his videos on you tube to share his musical talents to the world. With millions of views, August was becoming more serious about his music. However, after his best friend was shot and killed he was under a lot of tension. Not long after his mother kicked him out of the house. At age 16, he returned home to New Orleans with no role model or adult there to guide him. August fell back into the streets. His older brother Melvin LaBranch III was hustling as well. They were just trying to survive in this world alone. They sold drugs to make a living, however, this didn't work out too well. His brother Melvin was shot and killed. This was tragic and heart breaking, but his brother's death was the turning point for August. His event was his inspiration to stay off the streets and become extremely focused on his music.
Augusts' unique voice caught the attention of NNTME MuCo. Once signed with noontime August moved to Atlanta, Georgia. With August becoming the next big thing and living his biggest dreams who knows where he'll end up five years from
