Heroes In The Outsiders
Some might say that heroes need a cool suit and have to be like “Spider-Man.” They might say that they have to be born with powers. In reality a hero helps many people in need and always cares for others. In the novel, “The Outsiders,” by S.E Hinton there is one particular character that is a hero not just because he is brave, but because he never gave up. The people that are heros are Dally, Ponyboy, and Darry.

Ponyboy is a hero because he shows courage during the time the church was on fire. He and Johnny decided to save the little kids from the burning church. He’s also a courageous hero because when he was saving people in the burning church he says “ I didn’t pay any attention, although pieces of the old roof were crashing down too close for comfort. I snatched up another kid, hoping he didnt bite, and dropped him without waiting to see if he landed okay or not,”(79). Or when he said, I would, I would help her and Randy both if I could. Crazy for wantin' Johnny to stay out of trouble, for not wanting' him to get hard. If he'd been like me he'd never have been in this mess." (106). He is also brave because when he had a broken arm due to the fire, he still went to the rumble to help fight the Soc, when he said, “We gotta win that fight tonight. We gotta get even with those Socs! Let's do it for Johnny, man. We'll do it for Johnny!:He is a hero because he at least cared for one person which was Johnny because he felt bad for him. Dally is a good hero because he genuinely put his effort into trying to help the gang and to help Johnny and Ponyboy run away. He even provided them with money, gun, and sweater. He's an example of a hero because even though he loved just Johnny, he still loved the whole

In my opinion, he is not a hero, but an anti-hero. Dally was a criminal, and he took pleasure in that; he didn’t like doing things the legal way. He was a product of bad circumstances. The reason why he is a hero, is that he saved Johnny and Pony many times. Dally helped them find a place to stay when they were fugitives; gave them money and a gun; and when he risked his life to save the kids from the burning barn.…

Throughout the Outsiders novel, one can see that despite everything that Johnny has done, he was still considered a hero. At the start of the book, Johnny was very modest and would never move out of his comfort zone. However, as the novel proceeds, he developed into a complex hero because of his courage, responsibility, and acts of kindness. In the book The Outsiders, it has been proven that a hero may be found in the most unlikely of individuals, including supposedly introverted boys, like Johnny Cade.…

The main character of “The Outsiders” was Ponyboy Curtis, the younger brother of Darry and Sodapop Curtis. Ponyboy is very unique from all of the other characters, they are all unique. He isn’t the tuff like Dally, the pet like Johnny, the leader like Darry, the silly one like Sodapop, the wisecrack like two-bit, or even the confident and arrogant one like Steve. Ponyboy is quiet, smart, young, and kind. One of Ponyboys obstacles in the book was his brother Darry, the leader of the gang. “I could tell it was Darry though - partly because of the voice and partly because Darry’s always rough with me without meaning to be. ‘ “I didnt mean to!” Darry shouted… “Thats all i hear out of you! Cant you think of anything?” “Darry…” Sodapop began, but…

Through his many struggles, Ponyboy ultimately becomes a hero. His heroism helped him to decide right over wrong. His heroic decisions helped him stand by his friend’s side and help save kids from a burning church. Ponyboy shows extreme loyalty by sticking by his friend Johnny’s side when he killed Bob. He defies the law by going to Windrixville with Johnny to hide out from the cops instead of turning themselves in, but they eventually make the right decision to turn themselves in (pg. 56-87). Ponyboy had to make another important decision when some kids were stuck in the burning church. He had two choices he could make; one he could risk his life by saving the kids or two he could just let the kids die in the church. In the end Ponyboy made the right decision to risk his life to save the kids (pg. 90-93). At the end of the book Ponyboy chooses to help his friends fight in the rumble even though he is not feeling very well and is not in very good shape (pg.131-145). It could have been easy for Ponyboy to change any of the decisions he made, but he did not. So in the end the decisions Ponyboy ultimately made define him as the hero that he is.…
