Weight Management Two weight management programs that I found are the HCG diet, and the Atkins diet. HCG is human chorionic gonadotropin. You must take a couple drops a day of this chemical and place yourself on a very strict 500 calorie daily diet. You are only allowed to eat certain foods and cannot have any sugar. The program claims that you will lose a pound a day and not feel hungry while only eating 500 calories. The cost involved of this program is purchasing the HCG drops which are available on amazon for about $25 for a 40 day supply. It is recommended to stay on the program for 40 days unless you have to lose less than 20 pounds for which they only recommend 20 days. The Atkins diet is a diet which promotes eating protein and controlling your carb intake. You initially hold off on higher-carb vegetables, as well as fruit and whole grains. You omit starchy, sugary carbohydrate foods low in nutrients, such as bagels and sweetened breakfast cereals. Through the program you purchase frozen premade meals from them. The average costs of the Atkins diet is about $100 a week. One method of surgical weight reduction that I always hear on my local sports radio is Freeze the Fat. The hosts of the show all claim that they have done it and that it works. It uses Cryolipolysis fat-freezing technology to safely and effectively kill unwanted fat cells. No anesthetic is needed, and no incisions need to be made. You will be ready to return to your regular routine right after treatment. With targeted cooling, your fat is safely chilled to damage the fat cells without harming surrounding skin or tissue. During the weeks following your procedure, your body will naturally eliminate the damaged fat cells, leaving you looking slimmer. The average cost for freeze the fat is $1,675. I went to my local CVS in Simi Valley and found 3 weight loss products that they sell. One of them is called Lipozene. The main

Primarily the Atkins Diet is a diet high in protein and low in carbohydrates. It turns your body into a fat burning machine, because dieters eat foods that increase their metabolism. This diet relies mostly on vegetables rich in fiber, and foods high in protein, like eggs, chicken, and beef as the body’s primary food source. One of the goals of this diet is to change the balance between carbohydrates, fats, and protein in your body, keeping your metabolism on an even keel resulting in a boost in energy level. The Atkins Diet also helps stop your craving for energy boosters such as sugar and starchy foods and helps with curving hunger. Notably with the Atkins diet focusing more on protein and less on carbohydrates it helps jump start dieters metabolism.…

Illness is ‘a state of poor health’.’If a person has an illness they can experience a range of different symptoms, and tests may not always identify the cause as it could be just a cold or a cough. There are a few different ways to go about losing weight. There is the conventional way which is a balanced diet and rigorous exercise at least once a day for at least one hour a day. There are many different parts of the body that you can focus on but if you want to drop the pounds it might be best for you to do some intense cardio to get the heart racing which will help you burn weight the fastest. “You can safely lose 3 or more pounds a week at home with a healthy diet and lots of exercise, says weight loss counselor Katherine Tallmadge, RD”. I personally also recommend some light weight lifting as well. Some people even take extra protein also but that mainly comes after you have lost some weight. Then there is the option of having weight loss surgery which is very popular today for people who are too obese to exercise. This is probably the best option and would give them a healthier life then they are used to but with weight loss surgery there could be some complications. WebMD states that “Most people experience no serious problems after weight loss surgery though 10% do have minor complications. Less than 5% experience serious (potentially…

According to workers, organizations with significant wellness programs remain a minority. Demographic evidence suggests that the current laissez-faire attitudes toward workplace wellness found in many organizations will soon need to change. It's important to understand those needs to tailor a wellness program to the organization and its people. To be successful, wellness programs must be employee driven and management supported. When I go into a client’s house on a morning I get out clean clothes for that day for the client to put on, as I get the clothes out I check that the clothes are in good condition and that the clothes are the right size for the client. I recently went to dress the client, I went to put some trousers on the client but the trousers were too small so I explained to the client that these weren’t suitable as she would be uncomfortable all day so I looked for a bigger pair of trousers for the client to wear. I got a bigger pair of trousers out and they fit ok.…

Ones health is not constant throughout the aging process and it will never be. If it were constant, then we would not have behavioral change theories to work with. Health is dynamic and always changing either for the better or worse depending on the type of behavioral change. Health is generally defined as the state of disease abstinence, yet it is far more complicated. When individuals are physically fit usually they are viewed as healthy people, but they could be emotionally troubled so technically they are not completely healthy people. Being healthy means maintaining a healthy balance between all different health aspects they physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social, and environmental. There lies the true change of how to achieve…

This public health policy paper will discuss and outline the Affordable Care Act (ACA) as well as barriers and controversies surrounding the policy and its relevance in nursing profession. The ACA will eventually affect everyone. Statistics reflecting United States health outcomes have proven the need for the initiation of policy formation within the United States healthcare system. “In March 2010, President Obama signed into law a comprehensive health reform, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA).” (Estes, Chapman, Dodd, Hollister, Harrington, 2013, p. 144) The ACA promotes preventive care—including related services and family planning—that should result in improved health outcomes and increased more accessibility and affordability for many Americans (Health & Human Services). Looming aspects of health care act will not only assist with issues of health care access, but also create greater accountability for practicing clinicians that should result in improved outcomes.…
