1.1- Identify care needs for babies and young and children’s. * Babies and young children are vulnerable and very dependent on their parents and carers. Therefore as well as provide and children’s learning and development it is also essential that we support the physical care, keep them safe and meet their nutritional needs. * Be able to provide respectful physical care for babies and you children. * Be able to provide routines for babies and young children that support their health and development. * Be able to provide opportunities for exercise and physical activity. * Be able to provide safe and protective environment for babies and young children. * Be able to provide for the nutritional needs for babies under 18 months. * Understand how to provide for the nutritional needs of young children from 18-36 months.

Skin - Skin is the largest organ on the body and is very important role. One of the functions is to be a barrier against bacterial and fungal infections .If the skin is not properly cared for an infection can enter the body this means that as part of our care for babies and toddlers we must help to keep their bodies clean.

Hair –The care of hair will depend on their hair type also the preferences of the parents. Most parents will do their children’s hair at home but occasionally we may need to children’s hair in the nursery. It’s important that you follow parents preferences and also use the same tools e.g. brush or hair oil and shampoo.

Teeth – As soon as babies have their first teeth we should start to brush them. This is essential to prevent dental decay contrary to the popular belief care of children ‘s first milk teeth are very important as the career of their adult teeth without a good dental hygiene can decay the gum. Brush teeth with small headed toothbrush after meal and moving the toothbrush in a circular motion are recommended with milk teeth.
