Having A Dog Park In A Residential Area
Having a dog park in a residential area can greatly benefit the dog owners in many ways. I strongly agree that the animals need ample space and opportunity to exercise and socialize with other dogs; this aids their overall health and well being. In my experience, if a dog develops to be anti-social, they are far more likely to act out against humans and other dogs. This can be remedied by allowing animal owners to come together with other animal owners and their animals in a safe and public environment. It is also worth noting that, should anything go wrong, a public location can make it easier to respond. I personally believe the arguement that the animals would disturb the neighborhood is rendered moot by the fact that most of the animals that would make use of the park already live in the neighborhood and most likely not make much noise beyond what they normally would.

Any owner who wishes to make use of the park should first take into account their dog's personality/tendencies, such as whether or not they tend to act agressively towards people or other animals. There are also several economic negatives that come along with the development of a dog park. Making building this park is sure to be rather expensive and upkeep would continue to cut into city funds some. All in all however, I agree that the benefits can outweigh the the detriments and improve the quality of life for citizens that own dogs as well as the dogs themselves should the park be built, taking into account that any rules in place are followed by the owners to ensure the best possible experience for all
