Harm Reduction
Injury control and harm reduction is a strategy to prevent someone from getting hurt or harmed. Injury control and harm reduction pertain more to ages two through six. Children ages two through six do not understand the risks and dangers in simple and difficult tasks in life, so the parents and guardians of the child obtain a way to minimize the risks. One way to reduce harm and control injuries is to install baby gates to prevent a child from entering a part of the home where it is unsafe like a stairway. Another way to reduce harm and control injuries for a child is to keep away unnecessary objects around the house to prevent children from shoving in their mouths or choking on.
