Final Draft Is it appropriate for students to trick-or-treat on Halloween? Every year, I see nothing wrong with Middle School students trick-or-treating. I think it is appropriate for them to participate in the tradition of Halloween trick-or-treating. Three reasons why I think it is appropriate for students to trick-or-treat are: the fun of getting free candy, dressing up, and being able to hang out with friends on Halloween. My first reason why I think it is appropriate to trick-or-treat as Middle School students is the fun of getting free candy. On Halloween, students get free candy because candy is delicious to eat and fun to get. Also, it’s the only day to get free candy because any other day would be awkward to be getting candy for free from strangers. Getting to dress up for Halloween is my second reason why I think it is appropriate to trick-or-treat. Middle School students don’t get to dress up any other day, but Halloween. Halloween is the day for students to goof off and look cute, scary, funny, or cool. If we dressed up at school like we did on Halloween, we would get teased and laughed at. This is why Halloween is the day Middle School students should dress up. My third reason for thinking trick-or-treating is appropriate for Middle School students are being able to hang out with friends. School we hang out with friends, but not during class, only before school, at lunch, and after school. Sometimes we need friends to trick-or-treat with because it’s more fun and safer. I think it is appropriate for Middle School students to participate in the tradition of Halloween trick-or-treating. Getting free candy, dressing up, and hanging out with friends on Halloween are three reasons why it is appropriate to go trick-or-treating. If parents don’t trust students, then let’s make a neighborhood watch. Halloween will be much more fun when we trick-or-treat in a

Gum and mints might help students to not talk as much because gum might take too much room to talk. Also when you have mints in your mouth you don’t focus on your friends who are talking, you focus on the minty taste that is on your tongue. Focusing on the mint taste might help the student’s behavior. Is chewing gum and eating mints in class really a problem? What evidence proves that having gum and mints is a problem? When people put gum under the table they only do that because they do not want to get in trouble. It is against the rules to have gum and mints. However if it was allowed then people wouldn’t feel the need to hide it. Chewing gum and eating mints will also help people to stay focused. So when students are focused it will increase attention. So when students are focused it will help them achieve better grades, it could also help them stay awake because of the strong taste of the minty flavor.…

Where did the saying Trick-Or-Treat come from? Nobody really knows where the saying actually came from but, ill tell you a little about it.Trick-or-treating is when you go and walk around from house to house in reward of candy and several other goodies. This has been a popular Halloween tradition in the United States and also other countries for about 100 years. But the origins of this community-based ritual, which costumed children typically savor while their cavity-conscious parents grudgingly tag along, remain hazy. Possible forerunners to modern-day trick-or-treating have been identified in ancient Celtic festivals, early Roman Catholic holidays, medieval practices and even British politics.…

Teens are hanging out at Tim Horton's and although they are not causing trouble it makes people feel uncomfortable and makes them think they are up to no good. They really just want a place to meet, talk and laugh as a group. They pick well lit places so people can see what they are doing. They hang out here because they are too young for bars and clubs. They don’t go to someone’s house because there are a lot of them and they are noisy. They also hang out in places like Tim Horton's so they can have something to eat and use a bathroom if they need to.There are people who complain about the kids loitering every weekend. If they had somewhere to go the police would have less of these situations to deal with and could deal with other things that…

Likewise, the dress code at the high school is almost non-existent. Which means, we are allowed to wear the clothes we like. Such as, shorts, ripped jeans, and tank tops. At the middle school we aren't allowed to wear jeans with holes in them, which I do not particularly like. Not having to be worried about the dress code is something i'm looking forward to.…

    Dress Code in Schools

As a girl, I think the dress code is pretty fair. I really don't believe we want to wear short shorts and mini skirts and spaghetti straps, I think we just want to just look impressive. I think it's perfectly fine for us to wear t-shirts and jeans, because we don't need to wear holey jeans and low shirts. It's not much of a problem for guys, they don't barely even care what they wear. But on the other hand, girls care much more about their appearance. I think the dress code is a bit unfair to high schoolers, because they are able to wear more of what they want in their older age, but in middle school, I think it's fine. I mean, we don't want all the little 10 and 11 year old kids looking up to 13 year olds with skimpy clothing, it's just a bad role model for them. But I kind of don't understand what the whole spaghetti strap thing is about.…

I do not think it is right to take away a student’s self expression and that they should be allowed to wear what they want to a certain extent. For example at my school we are required to wear a collared shirt and either khaki or black pants with a belt, this kind of dress code and other stricter one are the kinds I think should not be allowed because it gives little to no room for the student to personalize their outfit to their own liking.…

Middle school and high school is a place in time for pre-teen and adolescents to mature physically, mentally, academically and emotionally. Magazines, television, music and the uniqueness of sports players and celebrities have a big influence on the ideal image that the typical teenager has. Students often feel pressured to become popular and fit in with their peers, due to fashion and appearance. In spite of the individuality that each student possesses, public schools should mandate all students to wear uniforms to eliminate economic stress on parents, for the enhancement of school pride and to cease the effects of peer pressure and bullying.…

    Uniforms In Middle Schools

Middle school is when most students start to “find themselves”( Anonymous, 2013.) Most middle schoolers are all up to date with the latest trends. Those trends are the way to get through middle school, so if you are not wearing the latest fashion trend you get bullied (Pinskin, 2010.) Bullies tend to pick on students that are less fortunate or different (Mitchell and Knechtle, 2003.) Bullies can do much more than tees the clothing others wear, they can call other people names based on the clothes they wear. Girl can be called “sluts” if they wear a short skirt, a crop top or even if they are showing a bra strap (Bodine, 2003.) Uniform policies restrict girls to wear short skirts or show any cleavage because it can trigger bullying. Uniforms help decrease bullying. Power is taken from the bullies when a uniform policy is installed in a school. Since all students wear the same clothing when there is a uniform policy installed, it is hard for bullies to point out those who are different from them. Wearing the same or similar clothing is just like wearing an invisible cloth because it makes one invisible or hard to differentiate from…

    Dress Code

The biggest argument for the average teenager, besides how disgusting the school lunch is, is how schools have adopted strict dress codes, and for some, even uniforms. Most schools in American have dress codes or uniforms to prevent gang violence, bullying, and to show students a proper way to dress, which is understandable for school that have serious problems with these. But unfortunately, no teenager wants to be told what he or she can or cannot wear when they are still trying to discover themselves. Luckily Southwood has not gone as far as uniforms, but it recently changed its dress code and has become stricter about it also, which is driving its students crazy. Southwood’s school dress code has gone from the simple “pull your pants up,” to only holes below the knees, to no holes at all, to “teachers please check for dress code issues,” to “no bracelets with double meaning.”…
