Hachiko Movie Analysis
Because of the emergence of a type of Theme will dominate a text, it means that the writer has self-interest in using particular Theme when producing a text. Pasaribu and Sumarsih (2010) found that Interpersonal Theme dominated the Hachiko movie scripts which mean that the Theme was the assertive or confirmation of the previous theme. Unmarked theme dominated the Hachiko movie scripts which mean that the speaker utters the most typical /usual text. The objectives of their study were to find out the kinds of Thematic progression and the Theme, in addition, to find out the dominant kinds of Theme that used in Hachiko movie. This study was conducted by using descriptive design.
There are some differences between the study above to this research. First, the study above used Narrative text in a script form, whereas this research uses Analytical Exposition as the object of analysis. Second, both this research and the study above have the same obejctives to find out the types of Theme and the tendencies. First, this study will describe the types and the its tendencies of Theme in students’ Analytical Exposition text of the Eleventh Grade Senior High School 2016/2017 academic year. Instead of figuring out the Thematic Development that relates to Thematic progression, this study only focuses on the Thematic Organization that relates to Thematic structure. Second, the object of data in this study is Analytical Exposition instead of the object of data in previous studies such Recount text, song lyrics or transcript of a movie. Finally, the last reason why this study is different to the previous studies before is the participant.
