Greatest Fear

The fear I have in my life is my fear of syringes and blood. As far back as I can remember, getting a small shot or having blood taken out for testing has resulted in my passing out or, throwing up in public. I cant remember a time that i have gotten a flu shot or had blood taken, that I haven't gotten sick. I dislike the feeling of having any form of needle pinch my skin, and the feeling of liquid leaving your veins. Even a slight pinch, a needle from a flu shot makes me uneasy. The most embarrassing, the sight of actual blood, discussing or even thinking makes me nauseous. In high school when we had to dissect a frog in science class I literally passed out. This strange fear of mine will probably not go away any time. No matter how old you are there's always something you are afraid of. I will never know if my fear of syringes and blood will ever go away as I age. These are my two greatest fear, it is not because is dangerous, the needles or having my blood taken out, it the sight or the thought of blood that gets me. I have overcome many of my fears in the past, and i know that I will get over my current fears in the near future. However overcoming our fears is a mark of our growth in maturity as humans. I know that as I age, with support from friends and family I can overcome

There is the fight or flight that every living being uses, animal and human. Humans often have other bodily reactions to fear, such as fast heart rate, sweaty palms and many others. Often times, the same person can have different reactions to different situations. For example, when I take a big test or write an essay, my hands begin to sweat. Not only does this help me calm down, I am able to focus on the task at hand. I have had a lasting fear of “The back room” in my house, it is a room that is unfinished and is used for storage purposes. I fear the room because it has a decent amount of old stuff, the room is dusty, and it is a dwelling for many arthropods and arachnids. I do not hate the room itself, because it holds the water heater and all the tools to make my house work smoothly, but I fear what lies behind the boxes, the old board games, and the unknown inside it all. Every time I have to go back in the room, I shiver and shudder and pray that there is not any sudden movement that passes my feet. While I shiver at the thought of bugs and the unknown I also have a terrible fear of heights. My fear is so bad I can barely go on the final step of a six foot ladder. I refuse to go into the attic and I scoff at the idea of helping my sister put Christmas lights on the roof. When I do come to a situation when I am on a rooftop or on a mountain overlooking a valley, not only am I…

The thought of having our body's boundaries invaded by something foreign that we cannot control, or of losing the integrity of any organ, body part, or natural function. This fear is what gives zombie movies that fear factor that gets people rushing to see them. However there are more reasons people may fear the body than just the idea of the undead. In films like Never Let Me Go (2010), the main concern of the characters is that their bodies are created for the sole purpose of being taken apart; they have their organs taken from them so they can be donated to the wealthier people who pay for it. A similar theme comes up in The Island (2005), when the clones escape once they realize that their existence…

There is a typical sermon of the Great Awakening, emphasizing the belief that Hell is a real place. Jonathan Edwards, the author of Sinner in the Hands of an Angry God hoped that the imagery and message of his sermon would awaken his audience to the horrific reality that awaited them should they continue without Christ. The underlying point is that God has given humanity a chance to rectify their sins. Edwards says that it is the will of God that keeps wicked men from the depths of Hell. This act of restraint has given humanity a chance to mend their ways and return to Christ. Fear is a strong tool to use when persuading people and trying to get what you want. Just as if a murderer held a gun to someone’s head, that person would be submissive to the murderer, Jonathan Edwards and characters in The Crucible install fear into people to achieve certain goals. Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God uses fear for good and to help people, while The Crucible uses it for both good and as an evil way to manipulate people. Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God is a sermon preached by Jonathan Edwards. He tries to scare the congregation in order to save them from going to Hell.…

What is this am I so scared of you may ask? The doctor’s office. Everything about the doctor’s office scared the heck out of me. The smell of other children’s fear has been left in the doctor’s office, the way that the nurses wipe rubbing alcohol before they stab a needle into you, (which burns the tears out of my eyes by the way), and the way that the doctor silently…

Fearing the known is typical for human beings according to Levitt and Dubner. I completely disagree because I don’t fear snakes, spiders, or being enclosed in a small, confined or crowded room. According to Statisticbrain.com, sixty percent of people fear the things that will probably never take place. My Aunt Kelly is one of these people, she refuses to leave her home anytime after 12 noon. She believe that after noon people are getting off of their shift and rushing to get their errands ran and after that rushing to get home. No matter the emergency or situations, don’t expect Aunt Kelly to come to your rescue after noon because she will not leave here home for any reason. Levitt and Dubner state that humans are fearful of the known risks like shark attacks. In many cases that may be true for many people but not for me. What I fear is the unknown important risk such as cancer. From the American Cancer Society, http://www.cancer.org, in the United States the number of people who have been a staggering 12,549,000. Cancer is an important unknown risk to me and I fear it because it’s considered to be a silently killer. I am definitely scared of cancer because it is an important risk that poses a threat to my loved ones and to myself. I have never been faced with a situation where I had to fear any of these unsettling dangerous matters. I do my best to stay healthy and active so that my chances are much lower. People should…

In 1215 the Magna Carta was written and was adopted by the Tudor Era parliament 1. In this Era the parliament and the monarchs communicated amazingly well with each other 2. Then something terrible happened, England fell under the Stuart rule so the Stuarts did not follow the same rules as the Tudors did which lead to great conflict between the parliament and the monarchs so the English fought in a civil war 3. Later after the war was over the English had chopped off the kings head and for a short period England became a country without a monarch 4. England then had the “Glorious Revolution” which was also called the Revolution of 1688, was the overthrow of King James II of England (James VII of Scotland and James II of Ireland) by a union of English Parliamentarians with the Dutch stadtholder William III of Orange-Nassau (William of Orange) 5. William's successful invasion of England with a Dutch fleet and army led to his ascending of the English throne as William III of England jointly with his wife Mary II of England 6. Later monarchs had been required to accept the bill of rights, making England a constitutional monarchy 7.…
