Graduation Speech
To our beloved principal, _____________________; to our highly competent and deeply motivated teachers and staff; other officials who are present in this occasion; to the proud and loving parents; and to the very important people – the stars of today’s occasion, our dear graduates, ladies and gentlemen, a pleasant morning. I want to start by congratulating the class of 2012 on your great success! I am both honored and flattered to have been asked to speak for his wonderful occasion. Not so long ago, I was sitting exactly where you are right now and having an inspirational talk from a guest speaker back then. I never imagined myself addressing you for your graduation day. Dear graduates, you should thank your parents for sending you to a school like Jimenez National Comprehensive High School where you are molded with great values and knowledge. You should also thank your teachers for imparting to you their knowledge and for taking the responsibility of a second parent in school where they teach you what is right and wrong. You should consider that what you have learned for years of studying is a great power. It is a rich and unique possession that cannot be stolen from you. Treasure everything that you have learned from this school because it would be very helpful. A few months from now, you will be enrolling to college. Some of you may enroll to a four year degree courses and others to some vocational courses but one thing you should remember that what you have learned from this school is a tool and a great foundation for life ahead. From what I have heard from all the graduation speeches, the speakers would say, “Graduation day is not the end, but the beginning of a more exciting life ahead”. Indeed, life’s getting more exciting, thrilling and breathtaking. And I am one of the living proofs of it. Let me tell you some of my happy and sorrowful experiences.

Before I start with my speech, allow me to ask a very simple question. Have you guys ever complaint about your school, your teachers, or being a student? I bet almost 99.9% of you guys said yes. We actually complain a lot, over the smallest things and lack appreciation. And though this ceremony recognizes our efforts, it also recognizes and pays homage to the dedication of our parents and our teachers. We would not have been able to accomplish this much without their help. So today, in honor of all the students, thank you. You know, I never expected to be standing up here but here I am, giving this speech and probably doing a terrible job at it because if you couldn’t tell, I’m pretty nervous. But thanks to NAMS, it pushed me out of my comfort zone and onto this stage in front of all you wonderful people. Succeeding from middle school is no easy task, looking back it surprises me that I even made it this far. A famous author, Theodore Roosevelt, once said, “A man who has never gone to school may steal from a freight car; but if he has a collage education he may steal the whole rail road.” Even though we have a while to get a collage education, we’ve made it here, to the end of 8th grade. Just like a rail road the train has to be set on a good track, just like our education. So far for this 8th grade class, our tracks have been fantastic ever since we first started our journey. Our first stop was 6th grade. New building, new people, and it were a whole new environment. New fears emerged and I remember feeling like a fish out of the sea. The year went by and our next stop was 7th grade, which the teachers have been preparing us for. We came back much more confident than the year before. We looked down at the 6th graders and asked ourselves, “Were we that short just last year?” And by the end of 7th grade, we were on our way to 8th grade. The year started off at a sprint and it seems to have left many of us still trying to catch our breath but 8th grade is also the…

To our young Ladies and Gentlemen seated in front of us tonight listening to our elementary school graduation speech - we are immeasurably proud of each and everyone of you. There were those of you who seemed to have wings and you just soared over the obstacles and challenges that crossed your path. It is a wonderful gift and one that never fails to amaze me. And although, not everyone may have had wings that saw them soaring over obstacles confronted - each and every one of you had feet - feet that you used to climb, bit by bit every day, one day at a time and yes...you all got there. You all achieved your goals!…

Good Evening. Ladies and Gentlemen. My name is Andy. This is such a great honor to be here tonight. Thanks for joining us today for graduation of class of 2011. Friend once said to me. “Hey, when do you graduated? Andy” Yes, right now, I have finally graduated from High School. Some of people already know about my truths that I am 20 years old. Yes, I am old and I am the oldest person in the school except teachers. I have reason for that because I tore my ACL, so I had to go back to my country and I took a break for one year because of surgery and physical therapy. From my perspective, there are two kinds of people, negative and positive person. The negative, person who feel of jealousy, last year I was once a negative person because of my knee. The fact that I cannot play sports anymore. The fact that I cannot play around with my friends. But, My family and friends pray for me and stand beside me to help me to rise again. Therefore I became somewhat positive. The positive who are successful, fun filled, mentally strong person. I feel lucky I chose the positive route and I expect to grow, learn and develop with a smile on my face. Last year, when I come back to America and got a schedule for senior year, I realized that, on the schedule paper, it said instead of Grade 12 ‘Grade 13.’ “Wow, am I super senior?” First of all, I kind of depressed because I realized that my friends were gone. However, even though I did not graduate last year with my actual senior class, I really had fun with this year senior. They are fun, hyper, and I learned many things from them such as acting or dancing. Now high school is already over and we will go college, work, mission trip or whatever. Even though study part in high school is not that great, I will miss High school, of course not the study part, because of classmates, teachers or anything. I know for the fact that everyone will miss our high school someday. High school is always staying with us. We may forget…

First of all, I would like to thank you all for coming to our graduation. What this ceremony is, is a celebration of a major accomplishment in our lives, the accomplishment of achieving an education. For many of us it has taken a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to get here, so today is our reward for the long hours we devoted to reading, writing, and researching, for the stress of taking difficult tests, and for the difficulties we have had to overcome. Though this ceremony recognizes OUR efforts in this accomplishment, it also recognizes and pays homage to the dedication of our parents. Today is the return on the work they invested in us through patient teaching and parenting. We would not have been able to accomplish this much without their help. Their guidance has allowed us to grow into men and woman of character, capable of doing great things. This ceremony is also both an end, and a beginning. It is the end of childhood, of a period of growing and maturing. But, it is also the beginning of a new chapter in our lives, one that is full of the promise of what we may accomplish. While I have the time I want to address the accomplishments of the past as well as the promise and potential of the future.…
