Goals of a High School Student
Goals of a High School Student

Throughout our years of high school, people make mistakes over and over, and then they made goals in order to get them back on the right track again. My past needs changes, my present has its up’s and downs, and my future needs some help. I wish I could go back and change my past, but if I did, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I need to change where I am now with the present because I plan on going to college and I need good grades for that. In order for my future to be good, I need to get my stuff in order, quick.
Attitude is very important, in school. It reflects toward your grades, and friends, and how you feel toward school. My freshman year was probably my worst year. I want to change a lot of things about that year, if could, I would be more successful now. My grades were not the best. I didn’t care if I had a C or a D in my classes and that made me lazy in my classes and at home too. My friends are also something that I would want to change. I would find friends that would only care about partying and hanging out more than school, which made me think school didn’t matter. Last but not least would be my attitude overall. I hated my teachers and thought I was “cool” because I didn’t care. Now that I think about it, I just sounded immature freshman year.
When we are living in the present, we are able to change things with our lives right then and there. Where I’m at in school, is not good, but not terrible bad. With grades, I have m0stly A’s and B’s, but I also have two D’s. I need to plan better with my homework and my schedule. I also can’t miss anymore school because it’s too complicated to catch up. I am behind in some of my classes because I miss some school and a couple of times, and if I don’t make up the work, I will get a zero, which will bring my grades down even further. With bad grades I won’t be able to get into the right college path because the schools that I want to go to require good grades. I plan on going

As I got older and got into high school, things got really ugly my freshman year. Hanging out with the wrong crowd changed my whole perspective on school and how I should apply my knowledge to school work. I can honestly say that my highest grade was probably a C out of the whole year. The beginning of my life changing didn’t take place till my sophomore year when I met my older cousin who decided to be hard on me in school. Part of that was him keeping me into football and other sports he thought I would be good in. It wasn’t till junior year in high school where I really took football…

When I was in high school I wasn't a very good student. I really didn't apply myself to anything. I had no dreams of going to college or doing anything special with my life. No one had ever encouraged me to do any better than I was or to try harder. My parents were not college graduates, they both had full time jobs plus nine kids to raise. I knew that there wasn't any money to send me to college, and my guidance counselor never explained to me about financial aid. I graduated, got a job and worked one dead end job after another until I got married and started a family. I spent the next fifteen years raising my daughter and encouraging her education. About a year ago my husband decided he wanted a divorce and I was left wondering; “What am I going to do now?” Since graduation I have regretted not going to college, I have always wanted to work with children, either as a counselor or in social work. My parents suggested that maybe I look into going back to school. I applied at Southern New Hampshire University and I was admitted. My first reaction was that I'm going to fail, I started by taking two classes every eight weeks and to my surprise I didn't fail and I loved it. I had to take some time off to finalize the divorce and when I was mentally ready I applied to Ashford. I started last year thinking that I was going to fail and realized that if I try hard enough I can achieve my goals. I'm not scared of failing anymore, I am however afraid of letting myself down for not trying hard enough, and for me that isn't good enough anymore. I want better for myself and I want to look in the mirror everyday and be proud of who I see.…

I was always told "don't plan too far ahead, because something will always come in your way," and I never listened. At a young age I began creating scenarios for my future and attending University of Florida has always been a part of my goals. If I were to be granted admission I would make sure I got the full college experience by working hard to be at the top of my class, joining a club that revolves around my hobbies, and of course, making myself proud.…

I was the kind of guy who always strove in order to get the highest grades but yet hadn’t decided what to do in the future. I wasn’t worried, I knew someday I would find something in what I was good at. I got to live with that thought for some time until I got to attend middle school, where I stopped worrying about my grades and managed only to pass the subjects. I spent most of my time sleeping due to the frustration of not knowing what to do in the future. Most of my middle school experience was tasteless. I hadn’t friends at all, and teachers used to discourage their students about their future. “You're not going to college, you’ll not be able to do it because you’re poor” used to say, Mrs. Vazquez, the math teacher who instead of giving her class, talked on how much his son had accomplished in college and how we would not be able to attend. That was about to change.…

My primary goal for going to college would be to further my education and to make everyone proud of me by helping students with my degree. As a senior in High School, I believe that it is my natural born right to further my education. I will go to IU Bloomington, so that I can become a Social Worker or a Student Counselor. In order to help students make correct life changing decisions, I will encourage them to go to college like I did. With my degree, I will be able to build a path for the student and indirectly help someone else in need. Everyone needs some type of guidance and I will be able to provide that to them. It will be my privilege to go to this college just so I can continue on the right path toward success and in the process improve…

I am a hopeless procrastinator. I don’t start homework until its due, if at all. That used to be okay when I was in high school. I was able to work, go to school, participate in a plethora of extra-curricular activities, and date, all while maintaining an above 3.0 GPA. It's just a really bad habit that I've never actually taken the time to fix. When I was in high school I loved succeeding, but I never had to really work for it. It just came to me naturally. I've gotten to college and while none of the material is really complicated to me I just don't have the interest for it. I have terrible time management skills. I don’t keep up with important dates and the dates I do remember I put off until the last minute.…

I’m attending Monterey Peninsula college on a short-term basis Until I transfer to a four year university. Education in my family has never been an option and I have always been pushed to further my education. I myself value my education because it will enhance my knowledge of whatever career I decide to pursue. Learning in general to me has always been important, I love discovering things I’ve never been introduced to or heard of before. Like Dr. Seuss once said, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go”. I chose to attend MPC to explore my options and figure out what career I want to pursue. One of my short-term education goals is to get good grades in all of my classes this semester (my first semester of college) and to create my ideal career plan. A long-term goal of mine is to complete all of my…

Now looking back on things on my last year of high school, I most definitely regret not working hard enough for my grades and taking things seriously. I still haven't got over the fact that I basically messed up my high school education and I honestly don't think I ever will. Though I do feel like a failure, I have faith in myself that I will be able to strive for better in college. Many times I wish that I could reverse back time to fix my mistakes but realistically I know that I can't fix anything in the past, but fix things now in order to get a better future that I want for myself. Throughout this whole entire experience I learned the importance of education and how it will really help for a better future. I also learned the importance of grades and how they could affect your life at an early…
