Goals and Gap Analysis
One’s goals and aspirations are one of the many driving forces in our lives and careers. However, throughout one’s education and professional life, gaps in one’s skill-set in respect to their goals are going to be brought to one’s attention. This is partially due to the nature of education and self-improvement, but it also due to the nature of the ever-changing environment in which we all live. In order to be on the cutting edge of one’s career, one must be aware of where gaps lie and take steps to fill that gap in their knowledge or skill-set.
This paper will outline the author’s current professional goals and why motivates them to move in this direction, using examples of positions that are currently available. This

Within this college is the liberal arts programme of the university. (“College of Continuing and Professional Education,” 2015) This would allow for the connections to be made with those who would be able to aid the author in the continuing and actualising of his goals. It is also worth noting that the author has two undergraduate degrees within the liberal arts, one is classics, the other in Latin with a concentration in teaching. This would allow the author to have some understanding of the liberal arts section of the college. It would also allow the author the make connections within the Arts College as there is overlap with the two colleges with respect to the Masters of Arts in Dance major (“College of Continuing and Professional Education,” 2015; “College of the Arts,” 2015). In working with a university and learning the finer points of programme development, as one does learn whilst performing their role, the author sees this position as directly supporting the actualisation of his …show more content…
The author has never worked in a situation where he has had to ensure the quality of such a great amount of programmes. Whilst the author has dealt with quality assurance (QA) in respect to individual classes, he does not have experience when it comes to QA of a whole programme. The author is also lacking the specific knowledge of the policies of California State University, Long Beach, however, this is something that could be rectified by reading the employee handbook and would be covered by orientation for the position. In respect to professional assets, the author is lacking the preferred qualification of a Masters
