Today we are here to commemorate and lament the passing of George Everett Eix. He was born December 11th, 1929 and passed at the age of 86 February 16th, 2016.
George was born in Fort Wayne to John and Myrtle Eix. He was a loving husband to Teresa Laguna Eix; father to Nancy and Hilario Ortega, Joyce and Ted Kalogris, Ronald and Mary Eix, Melissa and Leonardo Lucas, and Thomas and Laura Eix; grandfather to Angela and Roger Williams, Lorenzo and Ashlie Ortega, Kevin Eix, Sophia and Todd Loser, Crystal Kalogris, Renee Kalogris, Merida Eix, and Nicholas Eix; great-grandfather to Amir Williams, Mila Williams, and Evelyn

    George Washington Carver was born on a farm near Diamond, Missouri, in Newton County about 1865. Moses and Susan Carver owned his mother, Mary. His father, a slave on a neighboring farm, died before George was born. When George was just a few months old, a band of men who roamed Missouri during the Civil War era, kidnapped him and his mother from the Carver farm. These outlaws hoped to sell George and his mother elsewhere. Luckily, young George was recovered by a neighbor and returned to the Carvers, but his mother was not.
