Success Is An Option I Choose

Success Is An Option I Choose

It is possible to be born into a successful family, but it is not possible to be born successful. The responsibility of being successful falls greatly upon me as an individual. While others can give an opinion, theory, or share their beliefs it is ultimately up to me to make my own decisions. At most I can adopt someone’s beliefs, I can imitate their actions, or even mimic their behaviors, but no one else is responsible for what happens in my life. It is up to me to put forth the hard work and dedication to reach the level of success that I desire. It is my personal responsibility to choose the path for my life and I choose success. I believe I have some good qualities that will help me to achieve my overall goal of being successful in everything that I do. The fact that I have the discipline to dedicate myself to any particular task is a great trait. While I know discipline and dedication are two great individual traits when they are combined I like to believe the meaning changes. To me it means that no matter the obstacles large or small, difficult or easy, I will stare down the face of challenges and not give in or up until my task is complete and obligation is fulfilled. The Ethical Lens Inventory (2012) says that my classical value is fortitude, “You demonstrate courage and steadiness in the face of obstacles”. This is a fair assessment of my personality. I will always fight for what I stand for and or believe in. Another trait I have that I think is important to my success is my willingness to learn from others. For every circumstance there is a negative and or positive and you I can learn from both. We have all heard the saying “You have to be a good follower to be a good leader.” There is no way you can acquire a managerial position and be good at it without being under an example of a good leader. So with the willingness to

Being successful may imply to accomplishments or other external rewards, but being truly successful solely depends on an individual's way of interpreting their own values and actions in the past.Everybody has their own unique personality shaped by certain situations or cultural norms, but the way one utilize those learned morals determine success in life.Although success seems to be attainable only through gaudy and prestigious backgrounds, simple lives of less fortunate can also contribute to the level of success one can achieve in life.Success is greatly influenced by one's lifestyle and background because they motivate one to strive for change like Malcolm Gladwell, who advocated the importance of underdogs, the poem “if” with the theme of success and the eminent writer, shakespeare's famous quote which provides germane details on the impact of one's background that defines complete success in life.Success is being self actualized by knowing one's incapabilities and yet maintaining persistence to find alternative ways to tackle a challenge and our life backgrounds provide those characteristics required for success.…

A lot of people misunderstand what leads to success. Success is more than just being able to fill your bank account with loads of money, it’s about being satisfied with the lifestyle that you have. Of course having money makes you happy, but it can’t buy happiness, love, respect, or even trust. Everyone is born with their own unique talents and is better at a specific skill compared to…

Growing up, responsibility was something most young minds feared. The way parents spoke of responsibility, portraying so much struggle and frustration, it was evident most individuals dreaded growing up and acquiring more responsibility than simple chores around the house. That was then. When one experiences what comes with age, things become easier to accept. Through the years one can learn to distinguish the difference between selfishness and independence. The difference is personal responsibility. Differentiating between what is needed and what is preferred for the benefit of oneself is important for an individual’s well being. So, although an individual's responsibility is never ending, it is important to weigh out priorities to support individual success directly correlated with aspects of an individual’s life. Things, which matter the most, must never be at the mercy of things, which matter least (Goethe, Johan Wolfgang Von 1749-1832)…

Due to my recent troubles at work I have been counseled twice in the past several weeks. This has given me a lot of time to reflect at the way I have really presented myself in the Army thus far. I have not always been the best Soldier that I could have been during most of the time I that I have been in so far. Thinking about this does bother me, it means that I could be trying harder to get ahead and better myself as a Soldier and a person. Lets say for example I have been late to work twice in the past several weeks not only to include missing a pt formation altogether. I did this by not ensuring that i had met alo of my neds to ensure that i woudl wake up in the morning. But by doing this I showed my new supervisor that I was irresponsible and could not take care of the normal things that I needed to do by being at all formations in the proper uniform on time, which is now 30 minutes prior as of last week for me. What I should have done was ensure I had covered all of my bases so that i would have been at the formation, but I did not do this I was not the responsible Soldier that I should have been and just not thought about it as I did. Because it was the right thing to do I once again hold myself back from promotion, win Alpha company. I also should have known that alarm clock was not going to set its seld properly. As much as this was discussed I should have been fully aware of this and I just completely let it slipped my mind which I know is not a valid excuse yet I did do so. To make things worse that day instead of being a good Soldier like I should have and gotten up and just walked to work I decided that the best thing to do would just be a lazy worthless Soldier and go back to sleep thinking that “oh I should be able to find a way to work no problem.” Well I was wrong again and did not do the things that a responsible Soldier or even yet just person in general would have to make it to work, I…

When the term responsibility is said what comes to your mind? How do you define responsibility? I believe that responsibility is our own action to deal with something when we know of a situation that needs dealt with. When put in a situation where someone’s actions can cause a difference for the good in the outcome, I believe it is the person’s responsibility to step up. No matter what the situation may be, no matter if I may seem noisy, or no matter how others may feel by my actions; if I can in the end be responsible for a negative outcome of something that I could have changed, it is my responsibility.…

Personal Responsibility is more than just taking care of oneself. It is that dig deep, got to do it and go for it type of care. “It begins with self-awareness-the ability to perceive aspects of each individual’s personality, behavior, emotions, motivations, and thought process; imagination-the ability to create in the minds of any individual beyond their present reality, conscience- a deep inner awareness of right and wrong, of the principles that govern behavior, and a sense of the degree to which our thoughts and actions are in harmony with them and then there is an independent will- the ability to act based on self-awareness, free of all other influences (Covey, 2004)”. Everyone owes it to themselves to chase their dreams and make them come true. The first step is to be proactive and not reactive. “Proactive means more than merely taking initiative. It means as human beings we are responsible with our own lives (Covey, 2004)”. The difference between proactive and reactive people is that proactive people are those that have an A-type personality, the ones that don’t blame the situations around them and they are value based driven. Each individual have to be that type of person and a place where to start with is with them by being honest and true. Accept that everything is not perfect; face their fears instead of running the other way and to keep in mind that when it is all said and done, they did it. Everyone needs to get up and take advantage of all the sources available from the heavens down to the ground and make use of it. If you trip along the way, get up, dust yourself off and keep going. Most people know and understand that every goal has their obstacles, every success has their testing moments and so every dream has their own steps to take to make it a reality. Personal responsibility happens between the mental decision and action…

Personal responsibility, the idea that one is responsible for the outcomes of their actions and decisions is probably, without a doubt, one of the greatest if not the greatest builders of an individual’s character, morals, and ethics. This is something that we all project both on a conscious as well as subconscious level. Let’s start by looking at a few examples how individuals apply personal responsibility in their lives and the accountability factor that goes along with it. Then I will focus on how personal responsibility applies to college success and my “action plan” to help me become a successful student.…

Technology responsibility is an ethical and personal responsibility of an individual. Technology has become an integral part of everyday life in the workplace and in many individuals’ personal social networks. Most individuals touch their smartphones, tablets, laptops, or desktops more than they touch their spouse or loved one throughout the day. Phone calls have been replaced with text messaging and hand written thank you cards have been replaced with email messages. Communicating face to face or on the telephone has become somewhat of an inconvenience. The continual advancement in technology will reinforce the need for individuals to take responsibility for the possible barriers and distractions that technology can induce on a work or personal environment.…
