A key point to keep in mind while communicating in a class forum is using inclusive language. Inclusive language is the practice of not excluding a certain gender in the text. Terms like “man,” and “woman,” can often offend others because it might sound like you are excluding, or alienating one or the other. Also pointing out that the presenter was a “business woman” and you were surprised that she had some good points may make someone think…

Novice members, like myself, can learn from advanced members and grow into full participating students by collaborating with one another more often, which is a huge component amongst teachers, because interaction influences learning. Peers grading peers work prevents lazy work and therefore more students put forth more effort and have higher quality posts. Students being transparent of personal reasons of why they are struggling or missing an assignment can foster camaraderie and support amongst one another thus influencing us all to stay motivated and persevere. Online learning is entertaining oneself by being actively involved and putting in quality work over quantity, and being open to constructive…

“I can’t,” Gent 1056 said, hopelessly. What man content with the advice he had been given would make so shameful-faced a confession to his superior? To the young man the suggestion that he engage in a Mirror Contract was needlessly cruel. He, who could not but hope that there was some semblance of authenticity within his exterior which possessed all the beauty and romanticism of youth, asked to renounce it for the future of another being. Being all too familiar with the convictions of those at this age, his superior had anticipated his refusal. Nonetheless, it had been a long and trying day and he was facing increasing pressure from those above him to secure the necessary Mirror Contracts which would act to counter the falling population…

Come college years and I’ve been left by time. Professors and fellow students use this thing called the “Internet” to exchange ideas, assignments, projects etc. Networking sites sprouted and brought about convenience in the passage of information from one person to another. Our teacher created email groups (Yahoo! groups were popular then), blog sites, and networking sites such as Facebook and Friendster, to announce assignments or examinations and sometimes, create a trending topic that we can all react and give our ideas to. These tools helped me and my classmates stir up the way we experience learning.…

The University of Phoenix’s classes that I am taking are all online. I start by accessing the Internet and logging into my ecampus student home page. There I am able to access my classes and see all my needed tools listed under each class. One of the main items you have at the University of Phoenix is your participation grade. You earn that grade by completing discussion questions and participating in discussions in the electronic forum. The electronic forum consists of the Main forum, the Chat room and the Course Materials forum. In those forums you will find all of your discussions. The discussion topics are all threaded discussions so you are able to follow each topic easily. One of the things I like about the electronic forum, is that you receive feedback from not only your professors, but all so your peers. This feedback is helpful for me to learn about the others views as well as mistakes or corrections I need to make. With my busy schedule the part of the University of Phoenix that best suits me is that your course work falls under the Asynchronous communication model. This way I am able to complete my course work at anytime during the week no matter what part of the world I am in. It gives me the flexibility to be able to attend college unlike the traditional Synchronous communication style of schooling.…

Over eight weeks,, a web only based course was given at the University of Pretoria. And every week the student would do research, participate in discussions, web artifacts and later do a group assignment (Nagel, Blignaut, & Cronje, 2009). Through these assignments, Nagel, Blignaut, and Cronje were able to see how each of the students was able to relay on one another for help, and also giving feed back. The final grades were based on, 10% from the discussion pose and the other 90% came from research posting, web artifacts, group assignments, peer review, and final essays assignment (Nagel et al.).Though the study was conducted on the base to find out how well a student would do by participating, they also looked at those who did not and those who semi participated. Students were put into to three categories: the fail group ( 50% and less), Pass group (51% to 74%) and the Distinction group (75% and higher)(Nagel et al.). With the case study you can see that students had more success based on if they posted online, turned in assignments, or interacted with in the online community. Those who do not participate may need up failing or dropping out of school. No one really knows why there are students who would not interact…

Furthermore, the substantial data gathered by Nagel et al (2009) in their research describe the potential consequences of success and failures were documented. Therefore, a successful completion of a online module they concluded the following: foremost, modules that had discussion forums allows a scholarly proactive interaction with fellow scholars and the professor. Subsequently, this type of module facilitates and /or enriches the online learning environment of the scholars by generating queries and replies (e.g., in the form of posts, assignments, etc) of high critical thinking skills. Furthermore, the third aspect we must consider when improving communication on our online module forums to enhance the online environment is creating rapport as well as wholesome interaction. Last but not least important of all, is the supportive and wholesome interaction with the instructor that is enhanced within the online environment provided substantial responses to the inquiries formulated by the instructor and fellow scholars with substantive answers. My Gen

My generation includes people who were born between 1981 and 2000, and this generation is characterized by technology and independence. I definitely fit into this generation because I have always been attracted to new developments in technology and from very young I was very independent; this generation is characterized for being the first to have access to new technology such as cell phones and personal computer. For example, I remember when Nokia announced the first cell phone, and all my friends wanted to have it regardless that no one could call anyone because not everyone had cell phones and the service was expensive. Also, this generation is characterized by more independent students. For example, it was pretty normal for people of my generation to go to school alone, or to have the responsibility of holding the keys of our homes because our parents were working. In fact, people of my generation had to live with uncles or grandparents, so they would not have to wait alone at home until their parents arrived. Therefore, we always used our own resources to do it all by ourselves.…
