I have played video games my whole life. Video games have a special place in my heart. They were essentially my whole childhood and it was a great way for me to connect with friends. My friends and I would pull all-nighters playing games and those were some great times. I never really thought of myself as an addict when it came to gaming. My mother told me millions of times to get my eyes off the television screen because it was frying my brain. With the technology advancements improving the gaming experience, more people are playing online games. Starting from children, teenagers, adults, people of all ages are playing online games. People that are addicted to online games have the tendency to lose interest in many hobbies, activities they enjoyed doing. They have little face-to-face interaction with their friends and family, assuming they are spending more than 4 hours a day playing online games. However, some studies show that people addicted to online games are constantly involved in social interaction because the games encourage it. “Online multiplayer games typically encourage interaction between players: some go even as far as demanding it. The researchers sought to determine the motivators behind sustaining and eventually quitting compulsive playing of MMORPGs. MMORPGs were operationalized as World of Warcraft and was used in exploring the social, behavioral, and humanistic motivators behind compulsive playing. An open-ended approach was utilized in interviewing six participants, all admitted to having played an average of at least 30 hours a week. Questions which encouraged them to describe their experience in sustaining and eventually giving up their compulsions gave the researchers a view of the totality of their experience. The responses were evaluated through the lens of the Thematic Analysis method. In evaluating their responses, social and humanistic themes encompassed both motivations to sustain and quit playing. For sustaining compulsive play, friendships, reinforcement of a gamer identity, achievement, and escape from reality were highlighted as recurring themes. For quitting, the themes of failure as well as friendship were identified as the primary motivation. The study builds on existing literature concerning video game compulsion but carries implications in understanding identity development, peer relationship, and coping amongst young people.…

This report explains the problems that Supershuttle faced and applies the management principles to tackle them. It examines managing external relationships, managing operational finance, managing internal relationships and managing operations.
