A key aspect in discussing this topic is to understand the difference between conservation and development and applying it as one for tourism attraction development and site management. Conservation, according to Moses Wafula Mapesa, is the deliberate act of keeping heritage from the present to and for the future. It is an ethic act of resource use, allocation, and protection. I was very privileged to talk with a person like Mr. Kosova. His information expanded my knowledge towards our cultural heritage. I must say that before the interview I did not know that there are so many institutions that are responsible for our cultural heritage. I was very surprised to learn that many objects that are part of our culture have been damaged and even destroyed. Another important think that I learnt is that citizens of our country are very careful when it comes to save and protect objects that are part of our cultural heritage. This fact makes me feel good and happy to be part of a society where people are aware for what is good and what is not. The information that Mr. Kosova gave me has similarities comparing with the information that I read in the article. In the article it is mentioned that the place has a big impact in cultural heritage since it plays a very important role in the construction of a culture. Mr. Kosova had the same opinion and he said that modernization has brought many differences and the new buildings are importing some new elements that are not part of our culture. So, both the article and Mr. Kosova mention that landscape is an important element of cultural heritage and importing new elements instead of mixing elements may…

The development of traditional tourism has generated a model of an extensive growth based on the constant increase in the number of visitors (independent of tourist reception limit of the territory) and the urgency for short term benefits. The incentive is a trivial, consumist, and basic offer, with a small or even non committal to the culture and local traditions. One of the consequences of this trend is the appearance of very strong environmental pressure, which causes important damages on the environment. It is about an unsustainable model, which has persisted for four decades. (Fullana & Ayuso,…
