Front Row Seats Essay
“PACIFIC LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY! ATTAWAY GO LUTES!” The crowd goes wild as the men’s basketball team race their way through victory at their home game. As I stand in the front row seats with my sixth grade class, the chant of the people around us ricochets in my head as I try to bring back the feelings and memories that came with today’s experience.
My sixth grade teacher, Mrs. Utto-Galarneau, had a rather unique last name so I just called her Utto for short. I only remember her last name because she had studied at PLU and thought it was a marvelous idea to take her students to tour the campus she had once named her home. As a bonus, the whole class got the chance to sit in the front row seats to watch the basketball squad in action.

There was always something to do at PLU as I had noticed, whether it is only a walk in the park or having a cup of coffee with a friend on a chilly day.
Coming from a medium-sized town, it is almost quite hard to sense that feeling of diversity around you unlike being hours away from your home at a college filled with people you don’t know with different ethnic backgrounds. If I had never visited PLU I most likely wouldn’t have the ability to adapt to new places and accept people for who they are.
To this day, I value my ability to make new friends and adapt to any surroundings as it will soon come in handy when it is time to move out and be a part of the college culture.
The Lutes win their final game for the night! I watch a huge mass of people travel towards the exit while my classmates and I head to the bus. The sun was setting behind a cluster of clouds which made the sky pink like cotton candy. All I could think was how lucky I am to have experienced life of a college student with amazing
