Food Intake-3 Days The purpose of this paper is to display and track the food selection we make and the way we eat impacts our lifestyle and health. This assignment addresses my individual food intake for the past three days. Also I will compare my food selection with my WileyPlus profile and discover whether I am retaining healthy eating habits. There are foods that an individual can eat in order to ensure that the daily required intake is being made. Most of the time it is hard for an individual to eat all the foods that it need to, so that it can utilize all the nutrients that the body needs in a day. I do need to exercise and modify my eating habits to.

My usual recorded protein intake was 63g and the suggested intake was 77g, which was based on my body weight. My protein intake was within the acceptable macronutrient distribution range, but my usual recorded intake for carbohydrates was 286g, and suggested intake was 324g-468g (Jordan.T, 2011). Drinking fruit juice as a replacement for eating whole fruit cause a lot of the fiber to be lost because the most of the fiber is discover in the skin of the fruit (Nutrition literacy, n.d.). Because our bodies need the proper amount of all macronutrients to function the correct way uncontrolled amounts of carbs, fiber, and fats can cause illness.     My current diet is a complete disaster. Because of my work schedule, I don’t get up until around 11:00am, so when I do wake I have a cup or two of orange juice which is what I consider to be my breakfast. On the way to work, I grab a hamburger and soft drink. Also, I sometimes skip the soft drink and get a Monster energy drink if I am still tired from the night before.     My next goal as mentioned was to improve my intake of Calcium. I was diagnosed with Graves Disease and recently within the last year have had my thyroid removed. With my thyroid removed I have been informed by my Dr. to increase my calcium intake. By making this change from my three day diet to a one day diet change, I have added a 500mg supplement to take during the day with a bowl of yogurt. Not only am I increasing my levels by 500mg, but the yogurt itself is consumed with Calcium. By adding the supplement my actual intake vs recommended intake increased for the one diet.     I am not a picky eater or one who watches what I eat. I enjoy cooking and I love to eat food that is bad for me. My favorite meal is fried pork chops, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, turnip greens and corn bread. I am from the south where we use food as a comfort item. When we are happy, sad, mad or just board we eat. We have festivals to celebrate the food we eat. My diet is way off the SuperTrackers recommendations. I eat mainly one meal a day sometimes two. I do not eat a lot of fresh fruits. I need to stop drinking so many soft drinks and I should take out the sugar in my tea. I consumed little to no fresh fruits on a daily basis. I eat a lot of protein, but still not what I should eat daily I only ate around 40% of what I should have. One thing I should do is eat more of the good foods and do less snacking during the day.     The results from my three day intake some of the food s in my recorded daily intake that provided protein were bananas, burrito, Popeye’s chicken, pizza hut stuffed crust, whole milk, spitz sunflower seeds, Cheeseburger, chocolate muffin just about everything I ate had protein in it my Carbohydrates were hand and hand with my protein the list was the same as for the lips it was also pretty close to the others my food intake is nothing close to the Dri mine were way above the standard I can improve by cutting out all the fast food its killing me according to DRI and I need to drink a lot more water or foods with more moisture.
