Food deserts is a serious topic that communities need to consider looking into. Residents are struggling to obtain healthy food because they are isolated from the urban areas. Ideally they are low-income and do not own a car or access to public transportation meaning getting around places is a challenge. According to the “Food Empowerment Project’s”, they stated that high incomed districts have three times of accessible supermarkets as low incomes locations. As they specifically mentioned that in white neighborhoods, they have at least four time as many supermarkets compared to black neighborhoods.
