STUDENT INSTRUCTIONS
Some people become parents by choice, others by chance. Either way, a parent is legally responsible for his or her child. The purpose of this activity is for student to better understand what is involved in the daytoday care of an infant. To accomplish this, you have a "baby" to take care of for several days. It is your responsibility to see that this baby receives the proper care and attention as well as remaining healthy for the entire 14 days.
You will have to do more than just carry this baby around. Below are the guidelines for this project. Refer to these often, because the grade you receive on this project will be determined by how well you follow them.

You must give your baby care and attention. This is evident in what you provide for your child.
Babies must be given a face, arms and legs/feet.
A sturdy carrier, bag, blanket or basket should be used to carry and transport your baby.
You should also show your child love and attention by treating it in a caring manner at all times—even over the weekends! You must keep the baby safe. This means you cannot leave him/her in a locker car or unattended on a table where they can roll off.
You cannot let other people care for it if you feel they will not take good care of it. You are still responsible if you let someone hurt your baby. You do not want something to happen to your baby and find yourself accused of child abuse.
If something happens, you will have to provide evidence that it was an accident.
You should have this baby with you AT ALL TIMES even on the weekends!. If you cannot have it with you for an important reason, you may acquire a child care provider.
You are allowed 8 hours of free child care. Otherwise, you must pay the provider $.25 an hour. If you work, please get extra baby sitting slips to use.
The provider must sign the child care form for either free services or paid services.
