My Mini Project
The mini projects we started on the past week were all focused on one common hypothesis. The hypothesis being “Utilizing strengths can enhance interpersonal relationships or interpersonal skills”. As the projects commenced we created them with the hypothesis in mind. To start off the project I took the character strength inventory survey on the VIA institute of chartered website which listed my top strengths to be perspective wisdom, caution, honesty, social intelligence, and finally modesty. Out of the list of five strengths i focused on honesty for my mini project. Honesty, defined by website, was described as an honest person who spoke the truth and lived

By opening up and being vulnerable, those in my life were able to feel that vulnerability and reciprocate what i was feeling. I was able to “feel what others feel, to know another person’s experience” (Weil 2011). By opening myself up to people like my close friends i was able to actually get an idea of how they were feeling. Not to just come to the conclusion that they may have been sad but to actually get the feeling of the real impact that experience had given them and be able to correctly comfort them when they needed me which is that sense of compassion to their situation. With these new learned traits i was able to provide for myself a stronger set of community and social bonding (Weil 2011) that i didn’t have before that moment. Not only with that friend but with my roommate and my mother as …show more content…
Until i opened up, truly opened up, i had never felt like i had any type of community in my life that was there for me. After the project that idea really changed for me. I started noticing that my interactions with those in my life and those that weren't had gotten easier. I had found a sense of happiness that i didn’t think was possible under all my depression and it made me see that what i had been thinking before wasn’t an accurate portrayal of how everything actually was in my life. In the future there are numerous ways i would further enhance my relationship skills. I would work on my honesty more often, when it came to topics that i actually felt strongly about i would try to actually to say what i’m thinking and not hold my tongue because there have been times where i’ve been told i know a lot about certain things. Try to hone in on my ability to be cautious of those around me or even try out my humility. I would work on opening myself up to the community and happiness around me instead of blocking myself from it.

This book review is on Strengths Finder 2.0. Written by Tom Rath, this book follows and elaborates on Donald Clifton's Strength Finder assessment created in 1998. Strength Finder 2.0 looks to dispel the outdated belief that only weaknesses need to be improved upon. The textbook Psychology Applied to Work describes this concept as positive psychology, "The aim of positive psychology is to shift the emphasis away from what is wrong with people to what is right with people" (Muchinsky & Culberson, pg. 384, 2016). With that premise on its head, Strengths Finder 2.0 looks to first identify the strengths of others and directs them to improve on what they already do so well. Even though the text can be applied practically, the book really focuses…

I believe that my strengths are my behavior, tools for analyzing problems and gift. My ethical behavior is fair and living out role responsibilities. The tools for analyzing problems I use are authority and tradition. The results say that I tend to think through a problem carefully and research options, which I totally agree with. My goal is to make a complete informed decision.…

Another strength value is using my sense of sensibility when addressing problems in the community; this is according to my ethical lens results. I am in the middle on these results, I believe that you must use sensibility but also need to be rational. If I was to favor one over the other it would have to be rationality. One strength attribute that I appreciate a whole lot is the tradition strength. I think this strength can go a long way of helping myself and others out, being able to learn from others that have been in my position and analyzing their decisions benefits me. Some may overlook this attribute; I on the other hand value this trait and have been taught this attribute from an early age and then again in the…

The Clifton Strengths Quest results provided me with my five top strengths, which are: Strategic, Woo, Futuristic, Communication, and Maximizer. These five strengths describe my personality, my way of thinking and actions I take when in certain situations, such as being a helper in church or being a friend in school and all of my strengths can help me with relationships such as friends or family, in academics when doing homework, in preparing for career like applying to an internship, and/or in my spiritual life when being receptive to the God’s word.…

So I began to imagine what the world should be like instead of the nightmare it actually was. It was meant to be a place where strangers were met with a smile, not a snarky comment on the way their hair was combed. A place where boys and girls could be interested in the things that made them smile not what was deemed appropriate for their gender, or where the solution to all of life’s problems could be some with some quick thinking and a montage or two. The reality of course being that this just was not the case and that in order to get over things, I had to understand that things were not as innocent as I had hoped they would be and that the hardest problems would end in tears. Kindness was seen as a trick to get me to lower my guard, and all victories were just a pause in the endless failures that were about to take…

What the researchers mean by ‘subjective well-being’ is that it takes a broad view of happiness, beyond the pursuit of short-term of physical pleasures defining a narrow hedonism. It is also define as life satisfaction, the presence of positive affect, and a relative absence of negative affect. ‘Subjective well-being’ is measured by hedonic well-being where it’s proposed that an individual experiences happiness when positive affect and satisfaction with life are both high.…

I walked on a thin layer of ice in high school; every time someone judged me, I could hear the ice slowly cracking under my feet. My life was in a fragile and brittle state during my junior year. I didn’t have the support of my parents, nor of my closest friends at this stage of my life. My own parents, teachers, and classmates had lost faith in me; to them it seemed as if I had ruined my life and that I would no longer succeed. On the contrary, I was determined to be successful because now I had someone special looking up at me as their role model.…
