...Fitness and Health
Topic: Health and fitness

Good morning, Principal, teachers and fellow schoolmates, this morning I would like to share with you something about health and fitness. Many people think that health means fitness. However, I think there are some differences between them.

According to the interpretation of World Health Organization, being healthy means a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity whereas being fit means the state of being physically active on a regular basis to maintain good physical condition.

As far as I am concerned, there is a close relationship between health and fitness. It is because keeping your body healthy is the key of acquiring fitness.

It is vitally important for us to be healthy and fit because it helps us to achieve a good quality of life, for example, achieving the goal in life. For me at the moment getting a good result in the UE exam and successfully get admission to university is of utmost importance, whereas for others having a good relationship with family and friends is their top priority. If we just care for our beauty by taking an unbalanced diet, we will lack nutrition and energy and become sick, then affecting our daily routine.

It is alarming that Hong Kong students are becoming less energetic, less fit and less healthy than before. If this continues, the society will certainly be affected because of the low productivity. So, it is high time for us to be aware of this phenomenon.

To alleviate the worsening situation, students should pay more attention to their diet. They should eat more vegetables, less meat and oily food. Besides, although teenagers may face a lot of homework and examinations, we still need to have enough time to sleep. They should participate in more sports, such as jogging and playing basketball or tennis on a regular basis. I am sure developing the habit of playing sports will be more interesting if they do so with friends.

High school students are required to attend seven hours of school, five days a week, until they’ve completed 12 years of education. In addition, students are expected to complete schoolwork after the hours of school. This homework given to students is often viewed as an undesirable task. Students have the right to enjoy their leisure time after completing seven hours of brain draining school and not have to complete any more exhausting schoolwork. However, this is not the case. After enduring long hours at school, students are assigned homework every night and are expected to complete these tedious tasks by next class. Homework can take up to hours, sometimes even days to complete. It extracts all the energy from these fatigued students, leaving no energy left for physical exercise leading to the idea of unhealthy matters. In order to prove this, let the facts be told.…

Health is wealth. In the life of a human being health occupies an important place. Preservation of health should be the primary dutyof mankind. Health is man's normal condition, his birth right. It is the result of living in accordance with the natural laws, pertaining to the body, mind and environment. These laws relate to fresh air, sunlight, balanced diet, regular exercise, rest, relaxation and sleep, cleanliness internal and external, right attitudesof mind, good habits and good patterns of living. Our ignorance about health continues to be profound. There are no yardsticks for measuring health. Health is often taken for granted and its value is not properly realized until it is lost.
