Fitbowl Case Study
Introduction
FitBowl provides dog owners with a convenient and affordable tool to take better care of their dogs’ health by managing their food intake. A dog’s overall health and quality of life greatly depends on proper nutrition. However, often it is difficult to accurately and conveniently measure the amount of food served to dogs. FitBowl will assist dog owners by conveniently and accurately tracking how much food, by weight, they are pouring into their dog’s bowl. Given the lucrative market opportunity, FitBowl’s target market and target backers are adults who own dogs as pets. While the product itself may be suitable for cats as well, marketing the product for two distinctively different market segments would cause the campaign’s focus to be too broad and potentially less effective. Focusing around dog owner’s solely will allow us to build a stronger community around the product and the

The UK pet care market was worth £3.6 billion in 2011, and has grown compared to 2010 (£3.3 billion) despite the difficult economic conditions we’ve experienced over the past few years (the market is expected to grow steadily until 1016 when it’s estimated to be worth approximately £3.9 billion). The growth has mainly been driven by increased spend on cat and dog foods (Euromonitor, 2012) and this growth shows that pet owners are trying not to compromise their spending on their pets. Despite growth in the market, PAH should remain aware of the uncertainty within the UK retail market at present as pressure on consumers disposable incomes remains high, thus directors should be prepared for any future…
