Final Reflection: The English 2089 Course
Final Reflection In my final reflection essay, I am going to write about the outcomes that I earned in this course. The English 2089 course offered me many oppurtunities to develop my self professionally and personally. The course developed my understanding of literacy. It also improved my analyzing of credible sources that I used in my papers. Here I am going to describe my process that I have done and the outcomes that I earned. I will identify the specific areas of the strengths and challenges that I have faced during this semester. At the beginning of the semester, Dr. Anita Williams offered us the opportunity to expand our knowledge of what does literacy means to us. I wrote my first impression of what does literacy means to me in my essay literacy narrative essay (Literacy in Languages). When I heard the word literacy in our first class, I always thought that it means only the ability of reading and writing as Merriam-Webster Dictionary defined Literacy as “the ability to read and write”. On the other hand, Dr. William helped me to expand my horizons of what is the real meaning of literacy during the semester after reading the articles and watching the videos. I was familiar with writing an ethnography research; however, I face a challenge of identifying the right discourse community for my paper. Reading and annotating Swales article helped me a lot in looking for the right discourse community to investigate and answer my research question.
