Extend That It's 100 Years From Now Case Study
1. Pretend that it’s 100 years from now. Which piece of technology from our era do you think people will think we were foolish to have used? Why do you think they’ll think this? What are the costs and benefits of technology?
The piece of technology from our era that people will think we were foolish to have was the laptop. Pretty soon there will be tablets and phones that store and can do processes faster than any laptop every could. These tablets and phones are going to weigh less than any phone, tablet, or laptop that is used today and are going to be made of a slab of glass. Future generations are going to have this because they had increased their knowledge and decreased the amount of space that was needed to hold the insides of a computer.

It impacted my reading of the story not too much because of how I have seen it how it was back then and how it is now. This depiction was very intentional because when you want to describe something to someone then you should you have to show them your opinion on the subject and then you show them others’ opinions. The only thing that I have read that describes past technology as old, and would make a better ornamental piece then an actual useful object, is this …show more content…
They will write that we had technology that was unsophisticated and it had very little uses compared to what they might have then. They might also write about how this generation and its addiction to technology and how the average teenager could not get off of his or her phone. When observing society, it is almost impossible to find a single person who does not some sort of technology. This is not a bad thing but rather a way of showing how the 21st century is evolving and relies on technology more than anything else. It is quite fascinating to compare life in the past to the life that is lived today and, furthermore, the life that will be lived fifty years from now. For example, typewriters could be compared to a modern day computer, lap top, or, even more recent, an I Pad. Based on the technological advancements made in the past ten years, life in the future could be something similar to that of Panem, the capitol in The Hunger Games. The skyrocketing of cell phone usage and the reliability on electricity are two factors that show big steps toward the future.…

We already are seeing self driving cars and 3d printers being made. Honestly I have no idea what the world would be like 50 years from now. It's only been around 2 decades of the introduction of cell phones and you can see already how much they've progressed. In my overall opinion I think these technological advances will hurt America in a negative but also a positive way. It will cause American culture to become more isolated and more expensive. People will pay top dollar for the nicest looking Iphone just so they can stare into it all day. People nowadays want the latest and newest things and will do anything to get ahold of…

Anyone living today knows the effects technology has had on society today, not to mention how it’s changed our generation entirely. Our generation can hardly remember a time when technology didn’t exist. It’s become a part of our lifestyle, and isn’t going anywhere soon. “The evolution of technology has reached a point where pretty much anything is available at the touch of a button. Shopping, learning, working and entertainment can all be accessed from the comfort of our own homes, on a train or sat in a cafe,” (The Guardian).…

50 years from now in America the technology will be advanced than what it is today. I do also think that it may not be what the movie Minority Report thinks that it will be in 2054. There will probably be no need for phones. People will probably just have a chip in them or something which has all their information that they need. I think that cars will not have gasoline, they will just need to be charged…
