Personal responsibility is an essential element in every aspect of one’s life. What exactly does personal responsibility mean; the answer is most likely different for everyone. Chuck Gallozzi may have summed it up best when he stated, “Responsibility is not a burden, it is a blessing” (Gallozzi, 2009, title page). Those nine simple words speak volumes in that taking responsibility or holding oneself accountable, answerable, for their actions or inactions, accepting the consequences that result from those actions or inactions and most important, understanding the effect one has on family, friends, loved ones, coworkers, and classmates. Gallozzi went on to say, “No, we are not responsible for all that happens to us, but we are responsible for how we think, feel and act when they happen” (Gallozzi, 2009, Para 1).…

You should take responsibility for what happens while you are doing what you did. Say you decided to go climb a mountain knowing it could be very dangerous if you got stuck on the mountain you would have to call for help and that could be a lot of money just to be saved. If you knew what you were doing it could be a different situation if you got stuck by something you had no control over, but if you knew the mountain was dangerous. If you were with someone and ended up being in a situation where both had to get off and you get out safely an leave them there instead of making sure they make it out safely an if they die it will be on you for not helping them or making sure they will get out When you put the blame on someone saying they did it making you not responsible if you get caught that would make it you responsible for it now form your own action that you could of just took the blame an it would be on you for not helping them or making sure they will get out. of been fine for a…

Is personal responsibility a bygone characteristic of our mothers and fathers? Sometimes, it can feel like this is the case. When an individual has problems plaguing them in their lives, many blame luck, circumstances, or someone else. Many times, these issues have been caused by the individual themselves. We can only hope that, as time goes on, we as a society can realize personal responsibility once again.…

It is possible to be born into a successful family, but it is not possible to be born successful. The responsibility of being successful falls greatly upon me as an individual. While others can give an opinion, theory, or share their beliefs it is ultimately up to me to make my own decisions. At most I can adopt someone’s beliefs, I can imitate their actions, or even mimic their behaviors, but no one else is responsible for what happens in my life. It is up to me to put forth the hard work and dedication to reach the level of success that I desire. It is my personal responsibility to choose the path for my life and I choose success.…

Thesis Statement: Personal responsibility is defined as taking responsibility for your actions and accepting the consequences of those actions because taking responsibility for your actions means you do not try to blame others for you not being able to finish school or your goals. Also, accepting the consequences of our actions teaches us to be more mindful of our choices and we can react to our mistakes. Even though blaming others for our failures is easy because we are more likely to feel better about the situation if someone else has to face the consequences.…

If one takes responsibility for himself he will develop a hunger to accomplish his dreams. (Les Brown) Responsibility is a trait that a human should start to develop starting from his childhood. In addition, it is proved that anyone who started taking responsibility at a young age excelled in life better than a dependant person. All of this is the duty of parents who need give chances to their children to learn from their mistakes to become more mature. In my opinion, parents should let their teenagers make their own decisions because it helps them in knowing what is right from wrong in the future and to help them in becoming more self-confident.…

The third and the last response defending the possibility of moral responsibility is by Frankfurt. Who proposes that in order to be morally responsible, we do not need to be self-determining but we need to have the ability to form second-order desires. The arguments presenting this are two addicts for whom the drugs are a biochemical necessity. The first addict doesn’t have a second-order desire. According to me, this addict is not a person because animals are the one who usually acts upon their impulses, and that is what the addict did. He took the drugs. For him, the self-determination factor doesn’t apply and neither does the moral…

    Personal Accountability

Accountability is normally viewed as being responsible, giving an explanation of your actions, to somebody for something. When you take 100 percent responsibility for holding yourself accountable, your performance will improve, your relationships will thrive, people’s respect for you will increase, you will be a great example for others to follow, and your self-esteem will grow. How is it that in all these areas of your life you can see such dramatic improvement? Because when you hold yourself accountable to doing the things you know you should do, you will distinguish yourself from the crowd. I am convinced if you want to advance your life personally or professionally, you must hold yourself accountable for your actions, responsibilities, and goals. Think about it. Why should it be someone else’s job to make sure you are doing the things that you know you should to be doing? When someone has to hold me accountable, because I failed to do what I should have done, I have a serious conversation with myself. My belief is that no one should have to hold me accountable for my actions, responsibilities and goals. While I appreciate others helping me get better, I am the one that must hold myself to a higher standard than my peers. Make no mistake about it. You cannot achieve any worthwhile personal or professional goal, if you don’t hold yourself accountable. The reason is simple. It’s your life! If you have to be held accountable at work, don’t expect to be promoted or to experience any type of significant career advancement. If you have to be held accountable at home by your parents, roommate or spouse, it will grow old fast and your relationships will deteriorate. Holding yourself accountable is nothing more than following through with YOUR commitments and responsibilities. It’s doing what YOU know YOU should do, when YOU should it. Whether you are 15 years old or 60 years old, let today be the day that you make the commitment to yourself that you will NEVER…

In school, as in life, everyone has certain responsibilities. The Principal is responsible for overseeing the efficient running of the school. The teachers are responsible for seeing that school rules are obeyed, that their lesson plans are well written and lessons prepared. Teachers are also responsible for seeing that each of their students learn the material that is presented. Students are responsible for many things as well. All students are responsible for making sure they are ready to learn. This includes having the necessary equipment to do the job of learning. Each student is responsible for having a all their school materials with them at all times. When a student shows up to class unprepared it makes learning very difficult. Unprepared students also make learning hard for people around them as they disturb others trying to find a pen or borrow a book. Students who come to class unprepared miss important information. While they are looking for a book, or a pen or their homework; knowledge is passing them by. Being unprepared is a sign of immaturity. Students who come to class without a pen are demonstrating that they are not ready and they are irresponsible. They rely on others to take care of their needs. This is unfair to others who have their own lives to take care of. If you don’t want to be treated like a child, you must begin taking responsibility for yourself. This starts with being a responsible student. It’s time for you to step up and take care of your own…
