The six areas of learning in the EYFS covers all different areas of a child's development, and practitioners need to take them into account when planning next steps and activities in their settings. The six areas is divided into two, prime and specific areas. Prime areas which are personal, social, and emotional development, physical development and Language and communication development. The specific areas which are knowledge and understanding of the world, mathematics development, expressive arts and design development and Literacy
