Explain The Four Pillars Of The National Honor Society
The four pillars of the National Honors Society are leadership, scholarship, character, and service. To me, leadership means taking responsibility for yourself while also taking responsibility for others. Being put into a position where others look to you to make decisions and to advise them is also an example of leadership. There are small ways to represent leadership, such as taking control of a group project, as well as large ways like being the president of a club. Scholarship means learning to the best of one's abilities and putting school before anything else. This includes staying up late if necessary to finish homework, and studying for every test so a good grade is guaranteed. Character means overall being a good person: making good choices, staying true to one’s morals, and treating others with respect. Finally, service means …show more content…
I rank scholarship first because I am a very good student. I always do my homework, and score well on all of my tests. I receive A’s on my report cards because of all of the hard work that I put towards my education. I am very proud of my school work because I know that some people simply do not care and do not try, but this is the exact opposite of me. I also like that I can see a direct correlation between how hard I work and my grades. I rank character second because overall, I consider myself a good person, however I am human and I do have bad days and make mistakes. I sincerely care about others and this shows through my actions. Even if it is as small as picking up a pencil that someone dropped or complimenting someone’s outfit, I go out of my way to make others happy. Like I said before, I am hardworking and will not give up on something just because it is challenging.
