Personal Narrative: My Lifetime Goals
When I envision my lifetime goals I picture two things, a pristine white lab coat and a humanitarian award. The lab coat represents my goal to become a medical doctor and my hope to be involved with major medical research throughout my lifetime. The award symbolizes my dream to be recognized as a person who adhered a monumental impact on the world whether it be through heroic volunteerism or through inventing innovative methods that can be utilized in aiding the less fortunate. Although, I plan to achieve both of these goals later in the future I am working towards them today with my involvement in extra- curricular activities. Currently, I am apart of the National Honor Society and as a member I have been exposed to the essential qualities of leadership and discipline. Being surrounded by peers who actively motivate the student body while still being an effective leader has exposed me to superior leadership skills. This exposure allows me to strengthen and prepare my skills for development in the future. Throughout my life I have encountered many circumstances that have shaped me into the person I am today. I was born in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico. I attended school in Mexico all the way to second grade. In the summer of 2006 I moved to Cumming, Georgia. It was the hardest thing to do because I left everything that I care the most about. We lived in a trailer which was not the nicest place and in the middle of the forest. I started school at the beginning of August. I had always loved school so I was so excited for the first day. I knew it was going to be hard because I would have to conquer so many obstacles on the way. At this time the only English I knew was probably counting from one to ten and some of the colors. My Father knew some…

Being a member in National Honor Society implies that you are a person of great character. One of the most important qualities that you can possess is leadership. Honesty is one of the key factors to being a good leader. You must be honest towards everyone, and in everything that you do. If a leader wasn't honest, then no one would trust them. And if they weren't trustworthy then who would want to follow their lead? Leadership also requires that you have an optimistic attitude about everything. You have to take control, and look for the best in every situation. No one wants to follow someone who is always in a bad mood, and always looks for something to complain about.…

“The hardest obstacle to overcome in any leadership position is getting past the apathy to get people involved in the process to get things done…The greatest enemy to accomplishment is apathy” (Burke). National Honor Society upholds its members to have 4 important values. These being scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Leadership, in my opinion, is a very important aspect in National Honors Society because you are expected to be a role model by positively inspiring people around you. This quote stuck out because it says that inspiring people is a way to overcome obstacles in leadership. If you inspire people and make them get rid of their apathy, you can overcome stalling in the process and reach accomplishment.…

The National Honor Society is a group of students that exemplify the traits of leadership, character, citizenship, and intelligence. It is crucial that the future members of this organization exhibit these characteristics to the best of their abilities. For a great majority of my student life, I strived to perform these traits to my utmost capability, aiming to become an excellent example for my fellow peers. Throughout my high school career, I have been on the honor role for every quarter thus far. I feel deep pride and satisfaction in my grades and scholarly accomplishments, for they are a visual example of the hard work and large amount of effort I put into my studies. Although I not acquired any formal leadership positions, I exert my leadership abilities by example. In my classes, I often…

My mother, “Regina Hopkins,” has been a positive influence in my life. She has raised 6 kids all by herself as well as earned a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a City College in Gainesville, Florida. My mother has been through pretty much everything a person can go through outside of war and was still able to be there and provide for all 6 of her kids. In high school, my mother wanted to play football and couldn't because she was a girl and back-in-the-day women were not allowed to play football with the guys. However, she remained strong by raising 6 kids and independently took care of all of us on her own. My mother has several qualities that I would love to develop. The first quality she has is balance; she certainly knows how to make…

Everybody goes through something that is tough in life. For instance, some may have trials and tribulations in school, work, or even at home. For that reason, people find many ways to overcome their problems. Some people could just talk to someone about what they are going through, and they could immediately overcome their complications. This explanation leads to the following question: What is the greatest obstacle to achieving my number one goal? My number one goal is to graduate out of college with a degree to start my career in practical nursing. When I first started college in 2011, I was thinking that college was going to be difficult. During that time, I was taking an Anatomy and Physiology class, and I had too many roads to failing…

I am writing this quick letter to introduce myself and tell you a bit about my accomplishments and aspirations as a writer. I won't say that writing is in my blood or my genes or anything like that, but I will say that I do have an insatiable urge to write. I cannot say, but I definitely feel that writing is a passion of mine that I greatly enjoy. It is an urge that can only be satisfied and, even then, only temporarily, by stringing words together into a narrative. Ultimately, I greatly enjoy writing, although I do not consider myself to be stellar at it; I would call it a passion more than anything else.…

A major theme in my life is improvement. I challenge myself to take risks and set high expectations for myself. For instance, I strive to run faster and for longer distances every couple of times I approach the treadmill belt. I am obstinate about my minimum distance, 2.2 miles, and my minimum speed, 6.8. A major component of improving myself is learning. Every new word is a miniscule enhancement of my massive English vocabulary pool, but it is still a step in the right direction. I enjoy becoming more knowledgeable in both domestic and international affairs. I wish I could have more time to pour into reading current event and health articles. I am particularly attached to drumming the latest scientific discovery or innovate biotechnology product…

I am a communicator because everyday single day I ask questions and talk to people. Mostly questions to teachers because sometimes I don’t get it, but sometimes my friends because they might be confusing. One of my goals is to not wait until the last minute to do all my homework because sometimes there are a lot and I won’t be able to finish it in time unless I stay up extremely late. In order to avoid doing that, I will always ask my siblings or parents to keep reminding me to do my homework until it’s no longer a habit. My other goal is to be a better thinker because sometimes the best way to understand the question is to think deeply. My third goal relates to my first one and that is to always do my homework. Most of the time I’m very lazy and I don’t want to get out of bed just to do homework so I just leave it there. I will begin changing that goal by telling my brother, my sister, my mom, or my dad to keep…
