Exemplification Essay on the Most Influential Person

My Winter Nightmare My most horrible and most memorable Winter was the Winter of 2009. I had just gotten out of the hospital after having six life-threatening surgeries from a bacterial infection that was caused from a leaking sack during pregnancy. It was the worst Winter ever! I had to stay with my mom at the time, which made it worse. But I couldn’t take care of myself, so I had no choice. While staying with my mom, it was total chaos. Not only was my mom staying in the house. It was also my oldest sister, her two kids, my daughter, my newborn son, and my mom’s dog in a three bedroom house. On top of that, I was in constant pain from surgery, had to get my wounds cleaned and bandage changes twice a day, which was horrible. There was never enough room for all our stuff. We were always in each other’s way. And plus, I couldn’t get around good, so I was stuck in the house until I got well. It was a long and frustrating Winter for me. I had to deal with all that among other personal problems. My job that I had before I was hospitalized had shut down, I had no kind of money to take care of my kids, and my rent was due for my apartment. I can say one thing though. Even though I said that this was my winter nightmare, it was also a good one. I had my mother there to take care of me and nurture me back to health in my time of need. And we all know that we need that “motherly love” every now and then. I had my loved ones and my friends the for me also. But it really wasn’t a nightmare on that note. I call it my nightmare because of all the surgeries I had and all the pain I endured after them. I don’t want anyone to have to go through what I went through. Not even my worst enemy.

Sometimes I'd have to leave the apartment in the middle of the night. To go to the hospital, you know? Terri and l weren't married then, and my first wife had the house and kids, the dog, everything, and Terri and I were living in this apartment here. Sometimes, as I say, I'd get a call in the middle of the night and have to go in to the hospital at two or three in the morning.…

My mother got really sick for about a week and could barely even stand up. Since she was not able to, I played the mother's role and it was challenging. One challenge I needed to face was looking after my little sister. I fed her, changed her clothes, helped her with her homework, made her feel better when she was upset, and put her to bed. I was also supposed to help my brother with his homework and make his breakfast, but he was not as challenging because he is older and more mature. In addition to all that, did my chores and took care of my mother. I was very busy and overwhelmed taking care of my siblings, mother, and myself. That week of playing an adult’s role made me realize how grateful I am to have a mother who takes care of me in the same way I took care of…

I'm so nervous and worried but they called us into the room to get her ready for the surgery. My little baby girl didn't know what was about to happen. My heart was falling apart to see her so small and having to experience this. They finally take her in so I tell her how much I love her and cry. After seven hours of waiting, they call me and tell me that the surgery was over and I could go in to intensive care to see her. That moment was the worst seeing her in so much pain. She passed out on me twice and doctors were so concerned of her reaction. Being there for a month wondering if she was going to make it or not is something I don't wish no one will ever have to go through. It was the beginning of my freshman year of highschool when my mom began to see bugs in my food, my mattress, and any place imaginable, or rather the beginning of my mom’s hallucinations. That year I found out my mom was addicted to crystal meth. I could not believe it. We went from watching A&E’s Intervention together, a show about drug addicts, to my mom becoming a drug addict. That is when my world came crashing down. It was the start of one of the most important times of my life and knowing that my mom would not be there to mentally, emotionally, and often physically, support me was tough. It was extremely hard not being able to eat because my mom swore there were bugs in my food to my mattress being thrown out because “it was infested with bedbugs.” It was tough having to call other people to give me a ride to school because my mom was not capable of doing so. Not being able to go to sleep because I was worried my mom would leave in the middle of the night because she was jacked up on meth. But this was just a regular day…

What is “influence”? What people mean when they say about some that he is influential? What are the criteria of this so-called “influential person”? I think of influence as a state more than an attribute. Influential people are always influential, they are not flickering lights neither do they flash for short moments, instead they light up constantly. Those people are persistent, endeavoring to help, achieve the thing that they do the best: impact and influence. The influential character emerged early in my career. As young as 5-year-old, influential trait germinated in me, and when I began to have my own solid knowledge, I enjoyed sharing it with people in my first school.…

I spent my first week as a diabetic in the ICU on constant insulin and saline drips, learning the new language and skills I would need to survive. My mom stayed with me, sleeping in the recliner chair that the nurse brought by. My dad and sister came and visited, my boyfriend of only 4 days came by and played checkers with me. All of them looked so worried. I held it together, only crying when Mom was asleep and no one else was in the room. All the while I was thinking, “Am I going to be able to handle this new diagnosis? What is in store? What if I can’t do this? Never mind all the needles… I hate…

My surgery impacted my life greatly. I was really frightened by that event. But on the bright side when I have another crummy stomach ache at least I know it’s not an appendicitis. I’m really grateful though because there was a chance that I didn’t make it out of surgery alive. It was unlikely, but there was still a chance. My mom was a huge part of this. She stayed with me every day and night. I’m extremely lucky and very…
