Exemplification Essay: A Career As A Probation Officer

Probation Officer Fran Hennessey Criminal Justice Major was not my first option; in fact I never even considered criminal justice. I was an undeclared freshman who hated school and was thinking about dropping out to work in the union. The only reason I went to college was because I received basketball scholarships to many schools and I wanted to continue the sport I loved to play. Talking to my family about this they obviously did not want me to drop out and they wanted me to continue school and get a diploma. That where my brother says at least go for 2 years and get a degree so you can become a cop if you don’t like the union. These kids get of probation and are put right back into the environment that got them in trouble, so they end up right back in trouble. After probation there is little anyone does to help their safety, and also their education. No teenager likes school and when you don’t have parental vision that cares about your future then usually the kid doesn’t care either. Fran has a kid who is on probation for stabbing someone during a fight. Now when I first heard about this was shocked he was on probation, but there was no proof that he stabbed the kid. He was in jail until the hearing and after the hearing he was put on “maximum probation” for many things like weed, violence and many more that my brother left out. “This teenager is going to wind up in jail for life someday” is what my brother said.
