Everyone Should Be Forced To Join The Military
I believe everyone should not serve two years in the military because they’re forced to join, it is morally wrong, and it shouldn’t be happening. It is something that shouldn’t be. These people are being recruited in the military by force. It is morally wrong that anybody would do this kind of thing. It shouldn’t be happening to anyone. These people are forced to join a military when they’re so young. They join against their will. Just taken away from their families to fight. When they have no say in the matter. It is something that is terrifying just to think about. I believe it is morally wrong to make someone join a military against their will. It is horrible crime to commit. Taking people from their friends and families

In the text, ”Why They Serve” by Sarah Palin she discusses why her own son Track enlisted in the military and deployment in Iraq. In her opinion the men and women who serve in the US Army and especially those who are deployed overseas serve with an outstanding sense of duty and patriotism. She wrote the text when she was governor of Alaska and with a possibility of becoming vice-president. She speaks about how she admires the young soldiers who have possibly never known the absence of freedom and have been privileged with homes, education and opportunities in life. They grew up knowing the freedom and the security that comes with being an American and living in a democratic society. As she says, “They could be off…

The article goes on to tell about the conditions of the children who are doomed to serve as a soldier. The children often don’t have a choice. They grew up with criminality, their psyches are damaged and often they are leaved by their parents. Instead of going to school or playing in a park, they have been “brainwashed” and work for the…

In 1967 when I enlisted in the Marine Corp we did not have the draft, the Marine Corp never used the draft but the Army did. Around, the spring of 1967 the Corp decided it needed the draft to fill all the slots open. So they started to drafting, we then had a lot of men starting to call their congressman about the way they were treated and wanted them to change the Corp. The quality of the Marine Corp started to fall so after a few years of the draft they dropped the draft, then the quality came back I feel that if you want to be in the military then you should enlist. With the job market the way it is today we should have a large group of people waiting to join. I see in the news that people want their men and women back and protesting they don’t want them to go to war, who does. But we take an oath to protect and honor the constitution of the United States of America. When called we will protect our nation no matter what. So why are these people crying about their family members going overseas let’s look at it like this, it’s a job you get paid to do a service for the country. It is an honor to do this, be proud to serve and protect we learn, and we grow when in the military many men and women have become adults fast, even if they didn’t want to they have to. Does this make them a better person I think so, if some turn out bad or misguided they would have been misguided anyway. So is it time to reinstate the draft I say no. Maybe the politicians should, be drafted and serve their country instead of trying to place people where they do not want to be. Give the military men and women more pay and respect them for what they do. When we came home from Vietnam we were spit on and called names, these men and women deserve more, honor them do not humiliate them. I have spoken to my children about going into the military, but they…

The first article, “Military Recruiters are Using and Abusing our Kids” by William Ayers, focuses on military recruitment in schools. The article starts by giving examples of people who have been in the military and share their experiences with the process of becoming a soldier( Ayer,14-15). Some of these men and women come from rough childhoods and have left for the military…

“Khadr’s father took him to visit al Qaeda leaders when he was 10 and to a military training camp when he was 15.” (Andrea Prasow, page 3) What this evidence suggests is that some of these children were, and are, influenced by family to join a military when they are younger than the age of 18. There are cruel man and women in this world and they will use anyone, even children, to get what they want. People have chances to take second chances that have been laid out in front of them, but they decide not to take the chance. “We only had two things to survive [an AK-47 and a big package of cocaine]” says a former child soldier named Ishmael. He knows what it’s like to get a second chance from the horrors that he had caused. The world today is a jungle and we as people get a second…

throughout the world. It is estimated that there are as many if not more than 300,000 child soldiers around the world. Since 2001 and as of 2008, child soldiers have participated in 21 on-going or recent armed conflicts in almost every region of the world. Ranging from ages of 8 to 15, child soldiers are raped, abused, and sometimes even sent on suicide missions if they haven't died from the hardship put on a child in the military. 40% of child soldiers are recruited by force and many times forced to kill their family so that they don't have anything to come back to if they escape from the military. Although many countries still practice the recruiting of children, I believe stopping this practice will cause benefits to society, child soldiers lives, and quality of the protection of the country that stops this practice.…

Personally I don’t believe that the U.S. should make citizens serve in the military. I believe this because people should be able to choose what they want to do in life and what they want to study and what they want to make of themselves. Often people don’t even have the physical strength or abilities to join the military, or the mental state to serve. Yes, I know that our country needs protection but we need other things too.…

Children are being forced to serve as soldiers and fight in wars at extremely young ages. In the article Armed & Underage by Jeffrey Gettleman, the author states a quote “ ‘They don’t complain, they don’t expect to be paid-and if you tell them to kill, they kill’” (Gettleman, 6). These leaders…

People under the age of twenty one are not psychologically fit to go to war. Eighteen is the youngest age you can be to join the war without a parents’ permission, which is still a very young age in this society. The legal drinking age is only twenty one in America. If young adults can not drink legally they should not be allowed to go overseas and experience the terrorizing war scene. In the book NAM the author writes “Next I had to kick one dead body in the side of the head until part of his brain started coming out the other side.” (Baker 59) Older soldiers made the young cadet do this just to get the feeling of killing Vietnamese people. Even though he was throwing up simultaneously and to the point of dry heaving, they still made him kick until they were satisfied. Eighteen to twenty one year olds are still developing and if they see the things that go on during wars, their lives will be ruined forever and could mentally changed. Life long friends are made during late teens and early twenties and if young people go to war and their friends get killed right beside them they are going to be afraid of getting close to someone because they fear losing them. Most young adults haven’t even experienced many deaths and going from high school to a war full of dead bodies will affect them forever.…
