Although many weight trainers have gone through great lengths to dispel the myths related to weight training for women, the negative connotations associated with it never really seem to go away. There’s a lot of controversy surrounding weight training and the effects it may cause on the female body. Despite this, weight training is actually really effective for transforming the female body in a great way. Listed below are some common myths associated around weight training for women.

1. If a woman weight trains, they will bulk up like a man. Most people have an image in their head of huge female body builders when it comes to women and weight training. You will become stiff as a result of weight training. While it is true that there’s a certain amount of strain put on muscles as a result of weight training, if you are doing a full range of motion while training, your flexibility could potentially increase. Squats, deadlifts, dumbbell presses are all exercises that will aid in your muscle flexibility.

4. If you stop weight training, all of your muscle will turn to fat. This is like saying that gold will turn to brass if not used. Muscle and fat are two different things. You can expect to lose a certain loss of muscle as a result when you decrease your weight training. But an increase in fat usually occurs as a result of bad eating habits, not from the muscle turning into fat.

5. If you begin weight training then your fat automatically turns into muscle. In a dream world this would happen, but unfortunately this just isn’t true. Unless you are eating at a deficit or doing some form of cardio to shed the fat, any muscle that you gain will simply be hidden underneath any fat that you already have.
