Essay On The Mountaineers
MORGANTOWN, W.Va.--Baseball is a long season, and back in April it looked like it might be a long season for the West Virginia University baseball team.
The Mountaineers began the season 10-4 with a series sweep against UNLV, but things quickly turned sour.
TCU annihilated WVU in a three-game series on the road before falling to Penn State. Canisius swept a mid-week series from the Mountaineers at home. Furman and Kansas State also took a series over the young baseball team.
Disappointment was evident with many but WVU didn't shy away and let a rough patch define its season. Instead the Mountaineers continued battling as a team.
Since April 24, WVU has gone 9-1 with a series sweep over Texas.
"We have been playing team baseball here for the last couple of weeks," head coach Randy Mazey said. And when you play team baseball, you usually win games."
The Mountaineers are having one of their best seasons since joining the Big 12. If WVU wins at least one game

The Mountaineers have four seniors one the roster, one position player, one starter and two relief pitchers.
WVU starts six freshman and each one of them has came up big all season long and when the Mountaineers faced adversity, they grabbed it by the horns and took the helm.
The young ball club never got down on their coach, their teammates or themselves. They did the opposite and rallied together.
"Looks like we've gotten better," Mazey said. "I think we are playing well now because of the way we handled it when we weren't playing well. Nobody got down on anybody and everybody stayed positive and kept grinding. This game has a way of rewarding you when you do the right thing and we've done the right thing and now we are being rewarded for that."
WVU finishes its homestand with a three-game series at Monongalia County Ballpark against William & Mary (24-23) with Friday’s doubleheader at 4 and 7 p.m. The finale is at 1 p.m.

“I don’t know if I’ve ever been a part of something like that,” Mountaineers' head coach Randy Mazey said. “They were throwing pitchers that haven’t pitched much for them and our at-bats were just awful today. If you were to talk to Kansas’ coaches, and say ‘what do you have on the Mountaineers?’ They’d say ‘that’s a good hitting team, those guys can really hit.’ You talk to Canisius’ coaches about the Mountaineers, and they’d say the exact opposite. Now we just have to go figure it out.”…

The BCS, Bowl Championship Series, has existed in NCAA football since 1998. Created in hopes of eliminating the controversy, the BCS is set to make proper computer rankings of teams based on strength of schedule, games won, and “style” points. Style points are how bad a team has beaten another team, or how much domination the team displays over an opponent. Undefeated season from any team within a BCS conference can guarantee a spot in the National Championship game in January. The BCS conferences include the ACC, Big Ten, Big East, Pac-12, SEC, and the Big 12. All of the other conferences, represented in the NCAA, are called mid-major conferences, and they contain the MAC, WAC, Mountain West, etc. To obtain…

So Stoops went out and made the best move of his career. He hired Lincoln Riley from ECU, and he gave the keys to his new offense to Baker Mayfield, the former walk on from Texas Tech. Many felt this would be a long recovery, but instead it was more like a shot of adrenaline. Oklahoma became the best team in the country, and now they are going to prove it in the playoff.…

Washington State has been my dream college since I was a baby. It has been my families university of choice. The two most influential in my life Uncle Tony Grafton and Grandpa Donald Grafton, both alumni, raised me as a cougar. At my birth my Uncle Tony Grafton showed up at the hospital with a stuffed cougar from the WSU bookstore that sang the fight song and a baseball hat. At the time Tony was still attending WSU. As a baby I'd run around the house singing the cougar fight song instead of baby lullabies; and that WSU baseball hat rarely left my head. I had worn that baseball cap so often as a young boy, I had turned the…

Every homecoming game at CHS is magnificent. Considering that this was my last homecoming game being a student of Clarksdale High. I truly valued and cherish every moment of it. Each homecoming maid was simply beautiful as they walked out on the field. I was overwhelmed with excitement seeing all of my friends dressed in their beautiful ball gowns. Each maid conducted themselves with such grace and class even after losing they still remained respectful. Throughout the entire game I was overwhelmed with excitement. The game was going great our players were up by nearly 30 points . The bleachers were filled with people who loved and supported our wildcats . So many familiar faces returned home and reunited with their old classmates and loved…
