Aldactone (spironolactone) is a potassium-saving diuretic (water pill) that inhibits the body from consuming too much salt and keeps intact the potassium levels from getting too low. It is used in many purposes like it treats fluid retention (edema) in people with congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, or a kidney disorder called nephritic syndrome. This medication is also used to treat or prevent hypokalemia (low potassium levels in the blood). Aldactone is also used to analyze or treat a condition in which you have too much aldosterone in your body.
