Essay on Prestcom
Political--> Currently we are fairly stable politically which can help trade run smoothly. Energy Saving initiatives can help boost the sales of the Dyson Airblade if for example businesses receive a grant to help pay for the replacement of inefficient electrical appliances e.g traditional style hand dryers.

Regulatory--> The product has to be safe to use as it involves electricity and water. Has to be easy to clean so hygienic. Also not damaging to the user e.g the airjets being too powerful.

Economic--> Coming out of a recession so businesses may be less inclined to spend money on new appliances, especially ones with a premium price tag such as the Airblade. However it may mean companies are more likely to look into energy saving alternatives to products to try and save money on electricity.

Social--> Socially people are more likely to want to protect the environment and may be more likely to look into energy saving options such as the Dyson Airblade. Socially companies may be pressurised into investing into environmentally friendly options.

Technology--> The dyson Airblade uses cutting edge state of the art technology.

Competitors--> Quite a lot of alternative products which offer very similar benefits but at a lower price such as the Xcelarator and the Airforce.

Opportunities--> Dyson could release a cheaper product but carries the same dyson brand name, this could draw sales away from cheaper hand dryers as people may be attracted by the brand of dyson.

Market--> One of the market leaders expensive but top of the range, may be seen as a premium product, carriers the dyson brand name which means it is highly thought of, however there are lots of cheaper alternatives

Consumers who buy foreign-made goods or goods that are made with foreign-made components contribute to international trade. That can be a positive move if the goods can be made more cost-efficiently in another country. International trade occurs when individuals, cities, regions and countries specialize in what they do best and trade the surplus (Colander, 2010). The standard of living increases due to specialization and trade for trading parties because they gain revenue on goods that they export and can import goods that they cannot manufacture cheaper than another country. Exports create income for us and have a positive effect on the GDP, while imports represent money spent elsewhere and can slow our economy down. The biggest factor to be considered with international trade would be the exchange rates for exports and imports. If our dollar depreciates, loses value against other currencies, the prices of imported goods is driven up and sales of these goods wane. Goods made in the US consequently become cheaper abroad and exports increase. The…

More new products being built expands businesses and creates new jobs, which means more money for the country and citizens. Prosperity is the goal. To obtain that goal, countries and leaders have to think of new ways to reach it. When Canada wanted to create a better economy, Lester B. Pearson decided to get American Car dealerships into Canada, creating the Automotive Agreement (Auto Pact). “The agreement helped secure the foundations for Canadian manufacturing and industry.”6 Creating a strong foundation for the economy of Canada improved many things. It protected the country if anything bad were to happen and made it easier to repair the country back to normal. A countries look, or reputation also depends on its economy. When a country has prosperity, people from other countries will want to visit, earning more money from foreigners as well. “The Auto Pact helped strengthen the relationship between Canada and the US.”7 At the time, Canada and the US were not very close because of Cold War tensions between the two. The Auto Pact helped settled those tensions and made Canada and the US a lot closer, which strengthened their countries as well. Canada could now rely on the US, and the US could do them same with them. Lester B. Pearson’s action in creating the Auto Pact helped to build prosperity in Canada, which created a stronger, more wealthy…

A single country may have the ability to produce everything well enough to meet the demands of the population. Certain countries have specialties that they are willing to give another nation for a fair trade. Specifically in Canada despite having harsh winters and short summers, the country is able to provide its population with various tropical fruits. Popular breakfast choices including bananas and oranges would not be available for Canadians if it were not for international trade. International trade has allowed ease in lifestyles by creating competition, enhancing quality of life and attracting investments, which is why Canada should increase international trade.…

Social responsibility is the primary strategy which companies should concentrate on if they want to succeed because it will help businesses to have a good reputation and to obtain resources from stakeholders (Jones &George, 2011). As the article says, the U.S. energy companies should research into the advantages and disadvantages of fracking and show how companies care about communities and environment. If they cannot prove that fracking is an environmental and human friendly technique, many people, who concern about potential harmful effect from fracking, will be against their projects. After that, those companies will have a bad reputation and the number of customers will be reduced. To be specific, a group of New York State residents who called themselves the “New Yorkers against Fracking” support banning fracking in New York City (“New Yorkers Against Fracking”, 2012). This is because they believe that drinking water will be contaminated with the wastewater which is used in fracking sites and they also believe that federal regulations have loopholes providing for energy companies. The energy companies might have a critical situation when the small group of people in New York City becomes a big group of people all over the U.S. The stock price and quantity of their sales will be decreased because people do not want to support some companies which have a lapse of societal ethics. In conclusion, placing importance on environment and social responsibility are the basic strategies which help businesses to maintain a good…

There are two very important things I try to always remember when trying to balancing work and school. Responsibility which plays a big part in having good time management. If I am not responsible then it doesn’t mean anything. I have learned to be responsible and try to keep up my school work. To be responsible you must have determination. Determination to me is a very important skill when trying to stay focused on school. Part of being responsible is staying on task with what needs to be done. You need determination to complete your goals and the best way to do that is don’t forget what you are working for. For example I am finding it very hard to stay focused while working and taking care of my everyday things in life. I always remind myself of how important, what I am working for. I know that school can be tough to maintain on top of family and friends but also I know that it plays a vital part in my objective. So staying determined in excelling in school always comes first and as long as I remember that, I can balance my life much easier. My name is Kristina. I am in my late twenties, I live with my partner and have no kids. Right now I am working at a resort doing front desk and also working at Jiffy Lube and attending school so you can say I work 3 jobs. I have a pretty set schedule wake up go to work and come home. Every day I have to try to make time for my studies. So, it is important to make the decisions selecting careers and jobs, allocating roles and responsibilities that will provide the opportunity for balance. The real task of balance takes place on a weekly and daily basis. So many people like me stress so much because of this task but they don't know it can be very simple. Like myself lots of people do not have the time to go to a classroom when you have a jobs and/or a family to support and spend time…

Finally, trade opening can lead to improvements in energy efficiency — the “technique” effect — so that the production of goods and services generates less greenhouse gas emissions. This decline in emission intensity can come about in two ways. First, freer trade will increase the availability and lower the cost of environmentally-friendly goods, services and technologies. This is particularly important for countries that do not have access to these goods,…
