Essay On Odysseus
In the film The Clash of the Gods, that is based on the epic poem The Odyssey, by Homer. The main character, Odysseus, the King of Ithaca struggles with getting back home from the Trojan War, where his wife, Penelope and son have been waiting on his return home for twenty years. Nothing could stand in Odyssey’s way to getting back home to his loved ones. He takes on many risks and endures several hardships but never gives up hope. Odysseus’s journey relied on his curious nature, clever ability, and his intelligence.
Odysseus’s characteristics made him an excellent leader. After the Trojan War Odysseus led his men home but made a stop for food on a remote island. Odysseus’s curiosity of what the island held caused them to encounter a giant called Polyphemus. Polyphemus is also known as a Cyclops, and he was a cannibal. The Cyclops held Odysseus and his men captive in a cave for a few weeks. In this time Polyphemus ate more than half of Odysseus’s army. Odysseus with his cleverness developed a plan to escape. Odysseus and his army executed the plan that was to give Polyphemus some wine, causing him to become unsteady. This would then allow Odysseus’s army to stab Polyphemus in …show more content…
He never gives up and thinks the situations impossible. Going through storms that are life threatening, he always managed to survive because of his relentless drive to return home. For instance, passing through the treacherous creatures known as the Sirens, who use their beautiful musical voices to lure sailors to their deaths. Odysseus was curious and wanted to see what the Sirens were saying. He tied himself to the ship and had his men wear ear plugs that were made out of beeswax as they pass by the island. While many would be scared of highly terrorizing storms and creatures, but Odysseus and his men always faced these challenges to make it back
