Essay On Kobe Bryant
Monday Night Kobe Bryant continued to tie all of our heads in a knot, by putting up great numbers by Lakers’ standards; unfortunately, he posted up “Okay” numbers by the rest of the leagues’ standards. Should the all-powerful, all-knowing, Black Mamba retire? The Lakers have accomplished so much with Kobe being their Golden child; Recently, the Lakers stand in the last place in the Western Conference. Has the fact that Kobe Bryant himself commented about his pending retirement and more shockingly, not shot the idea down? Has this season and many more tarnished his legacy? Above all, does the black Mamba need to step aside to let some youngsters have their time in the sun and let the Lakers see what they have for future seasons to come? While saying all of this, Kobe Bryant has made it abundantly clear that he doesn't know for sure if he is ready to pull the plug on a magnificent NBA career, even if it sure looks to be heading in that direction this early in the NBA season.

With questions of his retirement swarming the air before the begin of the 2016 NBA season, everyone was eager to ask the man himself about these allegations. but with every question thrown at him about his undetermined retirement, his confidence slowly started to fade. Words like "If it is, it is," started to give people the rough idea that maybe Kobe himself has started

Like most bad things, the lakers aren't all that bad: they have some fresh, young, talent that is ready to jump off the bench and show what they got, yet we are still left with a washed up ball hog who needs to be benched. The Lakers head coach Byron Scott has been quoted saying, no matter how badly Kobe Bryant struggles, the Los Angeles Lakers star won't be benched for poor play, So the decision rests solely on his shoulders. Whether he chooses to stay or go, the Lakers may need to move on and try something

Since a young age I have been a huge fan of basketball, and of course being from New York, I am a fan of the New York Knicks. The all-star player of the Knicks, Carmelo Anthony, played college basketball at Syracuse. The season of his freshmen year, Carmelo led his team to their first NCAA Championship. He also was awarded the Most Outstanding Player award. Soon after, the Denver Nuggets drafted Carmelo Anthony with the third overall pick. He then went on to achieve his dreams of playing in the NBA and has since been a nine time All-Star. Seeing how Syracuse helped Carmelo achieve his dreams, I had always wanted to go to Syracuse to pursue my dreams.…

As the final seconds of game six of the 2011 National Basketball Association (NBA) finals ran off the game clock, so did the final seconds of the entire 2010-2011 NBA season, leaving its fans nothing else but to wonder when the next time would be that they would get to watch their favorite players and favorite teams play the game they love again. Now let’s fast forward about four and a half months. As the late fall sun rises on the day after Halloween and day 124 of the NBA lockout, the 2011 NBA season should have tipped off. Instead fans are still left wondering when or if they will ever see their favorite players and teams ‘lace’ em up’ and get back out on the court. The players as well are now scattered across the map suiting up and playing in games ranging from the Besiktas Jimnastik Kulubu Arena in Akatlar, Turkey to pick up games on the blacktop courts with chain nets in the Brooklyn suburbs, and even flag football games. Everyone is wondering the same thing, when will they get to go back to work and play for their NBA teams again?…

LeBron James was a stellar basketball player. He was offered a full scholarship to The University of Indiana and took it. LeBron was one of the best players around, but he had to go to college for a year before he could be eligible for the draft. LeBron’s life goal was to become the best basketball player in the world. That never happened. LeBron James suffered from a severe leg injury midway through his college season January 15, 2004. LeBron was never able to play the game he loved at the professional level. He now works at a bank and cashes checks for a living. This could be a reality that we would have to face today. In fact, though it is obvious that this story is not real, it is based off of a real player’s life. Tyrone Prothro was destined to be the next hall of fame NFL player, but he got injured in college before he could make it to the pros and now works at a bank, cashing checks for a living (Travis). I believe that high school athletes should not be required by law to go to college before becoming professional athletes because of skill level, money, and injuries.…

This is an interesting year in the NBA because there are plenty of notable names that will be free agents at the end of the season. The summer could bring on the ultimate game of musical chairs for players, swapping teams for more lucrative contracts and a better chance at winning a championship. Of all the free agents, LeBron James has probably been the most talked about when it comes to 2010 restricted free agency. There has been plenty of speculation about the teams he will go to next year if he decides to leave Cleveland. After a loss tonight in game 6 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals, the talk has already begun to escalate as LeBron’s decision becomes more imminent. For that reason I choose to evaluate LeBron’s post-game press conference from the game 6 loss to the Celtics. It is not the typical press conference because of the aforementioned free agency. Moreover, it is an opportunity for him to talk to the fans of Cleveland, and almost apologize for not living up to this year’s expectations. It is also different from the typical press conference because there is some persuading on James’ part. Convincing the reporters in the room, and consequently the people paying attention to the situation, that he has not given any thought to what team he going sign with in the off season.…

When most Americans hear the abbreviation “NBA” they think of the National Basketball Association, but when I hear “NBA” I think of three simple words: No Basketball Anymore. And see that is exactly what I propose should happen. It seems that the never-ending NBA lockout has become quite a troublesome part of many American’s lives. The stress of always wondering when they get to watch their favorite sport again is overwhelming and the financial toll it has taken on aspects of our country is becoming detrimental. To think that all of this stress is due to players wanting fifty-one percent of the owners profit rather than fifty percent is outraging. In order to diminish these and other problems the NBA lockout is causing, I propose that we end the NBA lockout (and future lockouts that will come) by simply eliminating the sport of basketball altogether in the United States.…
