Reality television shows like “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and “Rich Kids of Beverly Hills” are proof that some people in this world have an excess amount of money. During one of the episodes of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” one of the Kardashian sisters bought a new pair of Louis Vuitton heels for each day of the week. A single pair of shoes from that particular designer costs OVER $2,000. To the Kardashian, that was just pocket change, but for someone who lives in a town like Morgantown, that is a full month of pay. Growing up in today’s world, it is easy for people to realize if they are born lucky or unlucky.
First, people are born into a family that has enough money to afford plenty of materialistic objects. While walking throughout the mall or even school, people notice others who are wearing all name brand clothing. Their shirt, pants, and shoes are all matching brands and color. Another example of a materialistic item is accessories. Almost every girl is guilty of spending $300-$500 on a purse that says, “Kate Spade” in gold letters on the front. The saying, “it’s a good thing you are pretty,” is literally a motto for some people. If a poll were taken using random people to ask if celebrities were pretty or attractive, 99% of the answers would say that they were; it would prove that having beauty can help receive a job.
