The One Who Wasn't Saint-Like
Jonathan Wayne Nobles was found guilty for violently stabbing two women to death in
1986, and injuring one man in a Texas home. Jonathan was sent to prison in September of 1986.
People question a lot about rehabilitation and whether it really works or not. Was Jonathan
Wayne Nobles truly rehabilitated? It can be argued that he wasn't. Jonathan proved through his behavior patterns, manipulation, and acts of violence that he had not been truly rehabilitated.
Being truly rehabilitated is to restore someone's health back to normal through therapy after time has been spent in prison. Jonathan Wayne Nobles was indeed not rehabilitated based on the actions he portrayed while in prison.

Another time Jonathan cut himself with a razor blade, knowing guards would open his cell to prevent him from bleeding to death. Jonathan’s goal was to hit just one officer. Jonathan influenced other inmates to act out as well. "Influenced other people in the penitentiary." (76).

Jon converted to Catholicism during his imprisonment. Steve Earle corresponded with
Jon since the songwriter started working against the death penalty in the early '90s. Jon suggested to Steve that he should bring his son to Ellis, to bring spiritual guidance into his son's life to help rejuvenate it, since he supposedly knew how to do that better than Earle. Jon used
Earle as a tool against the guards in the prison. With Earle around, Jon was given extended time to roam around the grounds; to do whatever – whenever – he pleased. The inmates respected Jon because of his popular friendship with Earle, and Jon’s socialization time with other inmates was also extended because of that friendship. This special treatment wouldn't be allowed for any other inmate, but Jon had "special" privileges. The way Jon manipulated the people around him shows that he was definitely not rehabilitated.
On his death bed Jon sang “Silent Night,” making everyone feel sorry for him. Jon
