“The health of women, infants and children is fundamental to the health of our communities” (America’s Health Ratings 4). In recent years, several medical advances and health promotions have been made in America considering improving the lives of all American citizens. Several people of the United States have had a positive impact regarding these modern advancements and advertisements in the world of medicine and health, but Mississppi still seems to be falling short of these health targets. Specifically, the women and children are the main goal when trying to provide a healthier population nationwide. A few of the many challenges that women and children of Mississippi face are food insecurity, low birthweight, unintended pregnancy, and physical inactivity among women. However, in a state such as Massachusetts, the overall child health rate is exceptional due to a low teen birth rate, low mortality rate, and low percentage of obese women. The report on the nation’s health states, “This large difference suggests that Mississippi will likely continue to rank 50th in future editions of this report without large, state-wide interventions to improve the health of women, infants, and children” (America’s Health Rankings 12). The state of Mississippi is in desperate need of an intervention to enhance the live of all the residents. The children and women of Mississippi are being negatively affected due to the lack of a healthy diet and daily exercise. These damaging and negative traits that are currently being associated with the people of Mississippi can be changed if the people of this state work hard to improve their daily
