Going to college is a scary experience for many students. The thought of going off to college to start their life can scares many students. There are many bumps in the road when it comes to finding the perfect college. To get over these bumps in the road students look for many aspects about the college of their choice. Many students want the college of their dreams to offer a lot of social activities to make many new friends, academic standards so that going to college will help them with their future, a reasonable cost so students don’t have to live with debt, and a great history so that their college and degree are respected by others.
Indiana University has a history that goes back to the 1820’s when the school was first started. Just four years later in 1824 the first Indiana College class enrolled but with only ten male students. Then just six year later, the first class of Indiana College graduated in 1830. Academic standards vary from the type of different schools that are around the country. The academic standards at IU are on the higher side of average. The admission percentage there is just above average at seventy two percent. The average GPA is 3.6 to get into the University. With IU you can take both the SAT and ACT to get in or you can take either. The average SAT score to get into IU is 1740. Students need to get and 573 on reading, 602 in math, and a 565 on writing to get a 1740 on the SAT.Even with a 3.6 GPA and a 1740 on the SAT the chances of you getting into IU is still only 71%. Now if students take the ACT the students must get a score of 27. Indiana University is hard to get into, but they accept people with a lower GPA and SAT all the time.
