I never go to the theatre to listen a live concert although I really want to. I like listening to pop music, both Vietnamese and foreign songs, and classical music. The pop songs have gentle tones and attractive. After hard working days, I usually listen to love songs. One of my favourite singers is My Linh. She sings very well the songs about Hanoi.

Classical is not popular in Vietnam. I always listen to classical music before sleeping. These are the symphonies of famous composers in the world, such as Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin,… These symphonies help me relax after a tiring workday.

Topic 2

I rarely go out for eating, maybe about twice a month. I often go to the restaurant with my family in the evening. We have dinner on the occasion of the birthday of each member in family. By the end of the meal, there is a big cake with candles for dessert. All of us sing a song “Happy birthday to you” to congratulate and offer best wishes for the host. Sometimes, I also go out with my friends. Cosy restaurant with Vietnamese traditional food is my favourite type of restaurant but I usually have to go to KFC or BBQ because my children love fastfood.

Topic 5

Vietnam’s climate is so diverse. The north has a cool and dry season from November to April and a hot rainy season from May to October. The central coast has a similar climate with the winter monsoon bringing cool, wet weather between December and February. The south is hot and humid all year round, especially from February to May. The rainy season lasts from May to November. The central highlands have a similar climate to the south, but it is cooler and can be freezing in winter. At the moment, it is sunny in the morning but rainy in the evening. At this time of the year, I usually go to the beach with my family.

As someone not overly tolerant of military conflict, in light of the divisive war in Iraq and considering the unpopular nature of the Vietnam War in U.S. society; I decided to choose Tim O'Brien's account of combat in Vietnam in "The Things They Carried." I found outside commentary on this story by searching for reviews and analyses of the work on EBSCO Host, the university research database. I also surveyed the commentaries in The Story and Its Writer to add substance to my own analysis of the story. The most useful sources were the more scholarly ones that came from EBSCO host in journals like Critique and the Explicator.…

To understand the universality of human nature we can explore common traits and characteristics, many of which are prevalent in Jane Yolen's novel, Briar Rose. Yolen produces a very powerful and complex novel exploring the emotional aftermath of the Holocaust. Yolen has intertwined the facts of the Holocaust with the story of Briar Rose, a traditional fairy tale, in order to speak about the Holocaust without having to go into the historical detail of the experience. Yolen whose background is Jewish has previously written a novel detailing the Holocaust, uses Briar Rose as an extension of her work. Significant aspects of human nature that Yolen focuses on include the courage and heroism of the character Josef as he expresses the power of survival, the ability of Gemma to cope with her history and memories from the Holocaust and the journey of Becca to unravel the truth of her grandmothers past and therefore her identity.…

“Give me liberty or give me death.” (henry). This is a famous quote from the talented American revolunist Patrick Henry. It was said that henry could position his audience to anger, fear or laughter more sudden then professional actors. He showed this talent in his Speech at the Virginia Conventiomn. The most popular poets and writers uses multiple techniques and strategies to grasp their audience attention. The rhetorical devices include pathos, that appeals to emotion, ethos, which means authority, logos introduces logic. Many revolunist uses the rhetorical triangle, which is “the art of enchanting the soul” (plato). Arthur Miller uses these styles as well in his play The Crucible. I strongly believe that henry used ethos, pathos and rhetorical questioning to connect with the audience in The Crucible.…

As for me, I have a very wide range of hobbies. But I prefer not very active kind of rest. First of all my hobby is music. I think it is a very special hobby, because you can listen to music while doing any other job. I hear music my whole life, I live with it. This is fully thanks to my brother, who is a very talented musician and composer. He taught me to feel music because I was always the first to hear his new song. So, now I like different kinds of music. I can't say with certainty that I don't understand classical music and prefer pop only. I don't really choose between music of 60-s or nowadays modern groups, because in my opinion there always was and there will be great masterpieces. But of all kinds of music I prefer that one, which is really popular among lovers. I think it is very romantic and sweet and this is the reason why it fascinates me greatly. Some of my favorite groups and singers are the Beatles, the Rolling stones, Shakespeare's sisters, Elton John, Julianne Werding and Sting. But now I would like to draw your attention to English composer, singer and musician Sting, whose real name is Gordon Sumner. His musical career began in early 70-s when he took part in the…
