Make sure to start looking at colleges fairly early in your high school career. A good time to visit potential schools is during school vacation of your junior year of high school. Then, during the summer before your senior year, you can revisit any schools you liked to get a second look.

    Freire says that teacher’s cannot just see themselves as teachers, “we are political militants because we are teachers.” (Freire) Every day teachers go above and beyond as he tells in his story of Carla when his daughter was teaching. Carla was a poor, dirty child and her grandmother could not pay for her education so she went to Madalena for help. Madalena agreed to waive the school fee if Carla would come to school dressed and cleaned up (there were plenty of other students whose fee was surrendered as well). Because of this Carla was able to thrive in school and no one noticed that she was poor; she looked like any of the other students. “A naïve bystander would say that the educator’s intervention had been somewhat bourgeois, elitist, alienated- after all, how can one require that a child of the slums come to school bathed?” (Freire) But, because of this there was no chaos in the classroom, no one was above another. Basically she was able to remove the distraction and teach the class. This story is relevant to progressive teaching because it is important not to have rankings in the classroom.     In my life, I continuously meet new people. These people help form me. Whenever I meet someone, especially if I get to know them well enough, that person leaves his or her mark on me. Friends, family, and strangers have all contributed to my edification.     Is there ever been person in my life that has inspired me to do something or just astonishes you with their achievements? For me there is my teacher ex Mr. Scott is the most self motivated person I know. No matter what comes in his way, he conquers it, then moves on to the next challenge. Throughout the year Mr. Scott talked about his life, about how he once worked on the family farm for less than minimum wage, to how he had side programming jobs paying him more than one-hundred dollars an hour. He always preached if you work hard, no matter what you do, you will succeed on doing it. Now Mr. Scott is not any normal man by far, he is a machine, he never stops. Since the beginning, he worked hard, starting off he work on his family farm 7 days a week more than 12 hours a day, most people now days don’t even know what is hard work is, but Mr. Scott lived though it. After that he went to college and got degree in accounting and computer programming, there are others but he didn’t tell us. After college he got an teaching job, well I shouldn’t say a teaching job, he got three teaching jobs, one as a math teach at sterling, then a programming teacher at Macomb community college, then after all of the he was a driver’s ed teacher. He is well over 50 now and is still going strong, he still has his teaching jobs, and he also still doing his side job programming, the one that is paying his over $100 an hour. What’s here is a motivated man, people at his age are planning to retire, he is planning for new jobs. As you had read my teacher Mr. Scott had accomplish many obstacles in his life and hasn’t thought about quitting yet. That’s way my ex teacher Mr. Scott’s influence’s me to do well like him and have people look up to him.…
