English 098, 277: Improving Communication Skills
Goals can help you with where you want to get in your future for your career. I would like to improve my communication skills so it can help me with my career. My goal for English 098/99, 277 is to improve my communication skills, which are reading, writing, and listening.
The first communication skill I want to improve is reading. I will have to learn how to make a prediction before I read so I can anticipate the outcome. Then, I will have to learn to read as I write so I can be able to keep track of events. I would like to maintain alertness while I read so I can understand what is happening in the text. I will have to learn how to brainstorm before I write to be able to build up a word bank to avoid having having writer’s block. Also, I will have to learn to categorize so that I can organize according to relationships. Then, I will have to learn how to outline and to have a road map of the script. As well I would like to learn is how to stay on topic when I am writing. After, I will have to learn to compose so I can know the point of the script. I would like to know the point of the script so that I can have a better understanding on what happening and how the characters feel.
In addition to writing, another communication skill I would like to improve is Listening. I will have to learn the sitting position and learn how to ignore all “wise “conversations. The next thing I will have to learn is to anticipate the speaker so I can be able to draw inferences from personal experiences. When i'm listening I will have to be able to keep eye contact. The last thing I would like to learn is application and be able to teach someone else. In conclusion the communication skills I will like to learn are reading writing and
